Delta Dental of Minnesota is pleased to announce that effective October 1, 2016, we will implement system enhancements. The system

enhancements involve changing the administration of our Individual and Family plans to a new administrative partner that offers technological improvements and

long-term efficiencies for this line of dental benefits.

Your patients who purchased an Individual or Family dental insurance plan directly from Delta Dental of Minnesota will have a unique website for eligibility look-up and a new address for paper claims. Electronic claims will continue under our

current process. This change involves a very small percentage of Delta Dental of Minnesota’s members. Delta Dental of Minnesota’s employer-sponsored (group)

and government programs (Medicare and Medicaid) business remains unchanged.

Submitting Claims

Electronic Claims: Will not be impacted—you can simply continue to submit them as you do today. Delta Dental of Minnesota will ensure that claims are routed to the correct administrator on your behalf. Continue using the payer I.D. values as you have in the past.

Paper Claims: In order to avoid delays in payment, paper claims, regardless of the date of service, need to be submitted to the new corresponding address that can be found on the member’s I.D. card.

What Does This Mean to You?

Starting on October 1, Delta Dental of Minnesota members will have one of two I.D. cards.

Most Delta Dental of Minnesota members will continue to have an I.D. card that looks like this:

Claims Payments

You will receive separate claim payment for each line of business. If you are currently receiving an 835 file you will receive separate files for each line of business.

Provider Portal

Visit www.deltadentalmn.org/providers for the latest news and upcoming events, as well as to access forms and additional resources. In addition, providers can login to view patient claims, benefits and eligibility.

Effective October 1, 2016, providers will need to navigate logging into two distinct provider portals based on their patient’s I.D. card and/or group number.

Based on feedback from the dental community, we are pleased to roll out some additional features in the individual and family Provider Portal. Now you can reset your password and submit pre-treatment estimates. Your claims submitted via the portal will be processed instantly.

Pre-Treatment Estimates

Pre-treatment estimates for individual and family customers can be submitted via the online secure portal starting October 3, 2016. Pre-estimates for employer-sponsored group customers and government programs will continue to follow your current process.

Orthodontia

Patients with Individual and Family Plan coverage will continue to require a pre-treatment estimate. Reimbursement is automated for these patients. For employer-sponsored and government program members, the process will remain as it does today.
