hen was the last time you had a perfect day? When was the last time you had a fight with one of your parents? When was the last time you yelled at a brother or sister? Have you ever looked in the mirror and hated your reflection? You are not alone. Lot’s of kids have bad days. When you’re day goes bad, that’s when God really wants you to know how much He loves you. After all, God created you. He made you just the way you are and He thinks you’re awesome! Did you know, that God knows, every detail of your life. He knows how many hairs are on your left arm. He knows what you ate for breakfast. He knows about the fight you had with your mom. He knows it all! You’re probably thinking, “Great, if God knows it all then how could he still love me.” That’s the good news. You may have a bad day. You may not always say the right things or act the right way, but God will keep on loving you. God loves you when you use your best manners or when you yell at your brother. He loves you when you fight with your parents or blow a test at school. God doesn’t love the wrong things we do but He never stops loving us. The more time you spend thinking about God’s love it becomes very clear that you are very special to Him. God is going to keep on loving you because He wants you to love Him back and one day live with Him forever in heaven. Wow! What can you do for God to show him how thankful you are for all the love He gives you? It’s simple. Talk to God, tell him thank you! God loves to talk to you and listen to you. Read your bible or a great Christian book. Tell God what you love about Him and the stories in the bible. Praise God every morning when you wake up and every night when you go to bed. See how many things you can thank Him for. Try making a list and sharing it at dinner. Challenge a parent to see who can thank God the most in a single day. Have fun. Last but not least, tell God thank you for giving you life and making you special!!! Would you like to pass a little more than the potatoes tonight at dinner? Here are a few ideas to help you pass around a little love and appreciation among your family this November.

A Thanksgiving Poster

Take a piece of poster board and decorate it with lots of fall colors. Write “THANKSGIVING” across the top. Underneath that write “Father, thank you for…” During the month of November when you and your family have things to thank God for, write them on the poster. Pick a family night at the end of November to read all that you have to be thankful for.

Love Notes

Once a week, have each member of your family write a special letter of appreciation to a specific family member. Take turns that week reading one letter each night at dinner time. The next week everyone writes letters to someone different. Don’t be afraid to be serious. God can use this time in a powerful way.

A Tradition of Prayer

Family prayer is a wonderful thing. Take some time this month to sit down together as a family and write a “Thank You God” prayer. Encourage everyone to contribute to the prayer. Read these scriptures for some ideas: Psalms 107:1-8, Psalms 136, and Psalms 146. Have everyone read the prayer together one night at dinner. Make this activity something you do at least three times a year.

Everyone has something very special to be thankful for every single second they live. Too often this special thing is overlooked. Take the first letter of each picture below and use them to unscramble this very important thing you should be thankful for. Look to the arrows for help and when you are done, remember to say “Thank you!”

Teaching kids to be thankful in this world bombarded by media can be difficult. The goal is to raise children who do more than say “thank you”. The best way to create a thankful heart is to be a good role model to our children. Try a couple of the ideas below with your family and see if the thankful meter increases in your home. Thankful Paper Chain Cut strips of colored paper. Let each family member write something they are thankful for on each strip. Don’t limit the number of strips. The fun of this project is to make the chain as long as possible—showing all your blessings. Hang it in your home where everyone can see it. The Dad “Speech” Have your husband give a speech before dinner talking about the blessings that are in your family. After dad’s speech, allow each family member to share what they are thankful for. Go Without Have a family project that involves going without something important. For example, walk to any destination less than two miles away, or make bread for a week instead of buying it. A little sacrifice causes us to miss things that we take for granted. Offer Service

Serving others tends to make selfishness go away. For example, volunteer to rake leaves for your church, or watch the kids of a single mom in your neighborhood so she can get some holiday shopping done.

Mega mind—release date: November 5 Megamind is the most brilliant supervillain the world has ever known, and the least successful. Over the years, he has tried to conquer Metro City in every imaginable way. Each attempt, a colossal failure thanks to the caped superhero known as Metro man. Rated PG for action and some language.

Tangled—release date: November 24

When the kingdom's most wanted and most charming bandit Flynn Rider hides out in a mysterious tower, he's taken hostage by Rapunzel, a beautiful

and feisty power bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair. Rapunzel strikes a deal with Flynn and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed

escapade , complete with a super-cop horse, an over-protective chameleon, and a gruff gang of pub things. Rated PG for mild violence.

Hey Kids, Fall is such a wonderful time of year. Everything is so pretty, I love the way God changes the col-ors of the leaves. One of my favorite things to do in the fall when I was little was to just go on fall drives (as my dad called them) We would stop and pick up McDonalds (yes they had McDonalds then) and we would drive for what seemed like hours. But it was so much fun. It has been many years since my dad and I have just when on a fall drive but now when ever I look at the fall colors I remember those times that I use to spend with my dad. And I am so thankful that I will always have those memories. Lately I have been thinking about all of the new memories that I have made over the year and many of those memories are filled with many of you kids. When God lead me to become your children’s pastor never did I imagine the journey he would be taking me on. But what a great jour-ney it has been. I am loving every minute of it. And I am so thankful that God is allowing me to always have the memories of each and every one of you. Remember to always be “Thankful” God gives us some beautiful things to fill our memory banks with!
