Essential Services Hardship Assistance What is a disaster?A disaster might be a:

• Bushfire

• Flood

• Severe storm

• Earthquake

• Cyclone

What are the grant payments for? You can ask for money if you:

• Do not have essential services more than 5 days after the disaster. For example, you have no gas or electricity.

Need help to buy things you need now, for example food or clothes.

How much are the grant payments? The grant payments are:

• $150 for 1 person

• Or up to $750 for a family of 5 or more.

Can I get a grant payment? To get a grant payment:

• you must live in the disaster area

• do not have access to essential services 5 days or more after the disaster

We do not check the money you get from your job before we decide about the grant payment.

How can I apply for the grant?

• Call the Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349

• Visit a Community Recovery Hub

• Fill in the application form on our website www.communityrecovery.qld.gov.au

How will I get my money? If we say yes to your grant payment you will get:

• Money in your bank

• Or a recovery debit card can be provided at a Community Recovery hub
