He sat down and had dinner with people. Do you think Jesus might have been serious when He says that the greatest two commandments are to love God and love your neighbor? Do we know better than He does how to reach people? Jesus knows what He is doing. If we want to have His results, maybe we should pay attention to what He did and is still doing. It not difficult. It doesn’t require programs, board meetings and paid pro- fessionals. It just requires us to be friendly. If we want to reach our neighbors, be neighborly. Ask your neighbors about their day and actually care about the answer. Invite them over for a BBQ or a beer. Love people. It really is that simple. Peace be with you, Pastor Caleb

Matthew 22:36-39 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And Jesus said to

him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is

the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Last month, a group from ILC went to Omaha Nebraska to attend the annual gathering of our asso-

ciation, Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). We had a wonderful time making friends

with fellow Lutherans from all around the world and learning practical steps for sharing Jesus with our

neighbors. As the church, we have problems sharing Jesus with those around us. We have been well

trained to think that sharing Jesus is the job of the pastor alone or depending on a program to do it for us.

Jesus didn’t use programs to love people, He just loved people! He didn’t do it all Himself. He sent His

disciples to do it too. He went and hung out with people. He sat down and had dinner with people. Do

you think Jesus might have been serious when He says that the greatest two commandments are to love

God and love your neighbor? Do we know better than He does how to reach people?

Jesus knows what He is doing. If we want to have His results, maybe we should pay attention to

what He did and is still doing. It not difficult. It doesn’t require programs, board meetings and paid pro-

fessionals. It just requires us to be friendly. If we want to reach our neighbors, be neighborly. Ask your

neighbors about their day and actually care about the answer. Invite them over for a BBQ or a beer. Love

people. It really is that simple.

Peace be with you,

Pastor Caleb

TRIP TO THE HOLY LAND

If this is on your bucket list you are not alone. A

few weeks ago at the Texas LCMC Gathering

Pastor Caleb Williams from New Hope Luther

Church in McDade shared information about Holy

Land Tours that he organizes. He wants as many

people possible to have this experience and of-

fers the trip at his cost. There is a photo booklet

for you to glance at on the table in the annex, and

if you want to know more about this opportunity

or how to contact Pastor Williams please talk to

Phyllis Johnson.

Please come join us on

Sat, November 30th,

to decorate the Christmas tree, hang

wreaths and put out candles in the church

sanctuary. This invitation is extended to

EVERYONE- not just our altar guild

members.

We will begin at 9:00 - coffee and donuts

will be provided. The more hands the mer-

rier and the quicker we’ll be done.

Hope to see you there...!!

NOISY OFFERING

Here at Immanuel we get noisy every Sunday. We worship the Lord in so

many ways and one is with Noisy Offering that is collected every week

during the regular offering time. Our little members love to be part of the

service and help pass the buckets. The money collected always goes to

a cause that the kids discuss and/or relate to. In November the Noisy

offering will be used to purchased little books with the real Christmas

story that will be given to all children who attend the Live Nativity. Also

bookmarks with interesting Christmas story facts will be given to the

older kids. Your change and/or green is always appreciated.
