IC CHURCH RESTORATION FUND Two new share (savings) accounts have been recently
set up at the Ukrainian credit unions to accept donations
designated for church restoration. Donations can be made
directly to these accounts: At the Ukrainian Future Credit Union (Future), the new
account is identified as "IC Church Restoration" and bears
account number 13194 S20. At the Ukrainian Selfreliance Michigan Federal Credit Un-
ion (Selfreliance), the account is identified as "IC Church
Restoration" and bears account number 17263. As of October 25, 2011, approximately $139,300.00 in
donations for restoration work has been received and de-
posited into these accounts. Approximately $300,000 in
donations is needed in order to finance Phase One of
the church restoration project. It is imperative that the
first phase of restoration work begin this summer in or-
der to avoid further damage to the church building (exterior
and interior) that would be occasioned by any significant
and unnecessary delay. Without your generous and timely
donations this simply cannot be done. We need your help
and we need it NOW.

інтер’єру та екстер’єру будівлі необхідно розпочати
перший крок реставраційних робіт як найшвидше -

The SCRIP program works by our families and supporters
purchasing gift cards and certificated from a long list of
participating retailers and restaurants. These cards can be
used to make your daily purchases of food, gas, clothing
and services. They are purchased at face value; however,
the school acquires them at a discount (between 2% - 25%)
which varies by participating company. For a full list of
retailers go to www.glscrip.com. Your continued support
of the IC Schools is simple by using the latest form posted
on this website, or delivered to you via the PTO pouches.
Simply choose the number of cards you would like and
their value. Please be careful when selecting your options;
once ordered, the cards may not be returned. All orders
must be received by noon on Mondays if you wish to re-
ceive your order the same week. If you have questions
please call the IC Schools office tel. 586 574 2481 for more
information.
CATECHISM CLASSES Catechism classes and preparation of children for the first
Confession and first Solemn Holy Communion will be held
at Immaculate Conception Church every Sunday at 12 o
clock starting November 6. Classes will be taught in
Ukrainian language. To participate, children should be at
least seven years of age and have a good understanding of
Ukrainian language. Please call the church office (313 893
1710) to sign up children no later than the first day of class.
Children who will be signed up later will have to wait until
next year. For the first class we ask children and parents to
meet after the Holy Liturgy in the church basement. For
any additional information please call Mrs. Nataliya at
(313) 516 8079 .

Bishop visits alma mater, inspires young students
Ukrainian spiritual leader heard calling while a Detroit area pupil

Warren — The spiritual leader of Ukrainian Catholics in Great Britain returned to his roots Monday, speaking to classes at the Metro Detroit school he attended decades ago.
Bishop Hlib Lonchyna, who graduated from Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic School in 1968, urged students to listen for the inner voice calling them to a religious vocation.
Lonchyna, 57, said he experienced the call to become a priest while in third grade at the school, then located in Hamtramck.
"It's not like becoming a doctor or a scientist or a pilot," he said.
"All of those fields are called professions. But one becomes a priest because he hears a calling.
"How do you know? It's something you have to feel inside. It doesn't come in a book or a report card. It's in your heart."
Lonchyna, who leads about 10,000 followers as apostolic exarch of the church in Britain, visited Immaculate Conception to celebrate the school's 75th anniversary.
Founded in Hamtramck in 1936, Immaculate Conception, which serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade, moved to Warren in 1980.
The bishop also attended a banquet Sunday at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Warren.
During his visit with students, Lonchyna centered his address on a phrase made popular by Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple Inc. who died Oct. 5.
"Think different," the bishop told the students gathered in the chapel.
"But what the computer company was saying is, don't buy the other company's computers or gadgets, buy this one."
Lonchyna said his idea of thinking differently is not to accept everything at face value, but to look for the deeper meaning.
"It doesn't mean that the better person has more money or is more popular, but instead is more kind, more loving and tries to do the right things in life," he said.

He also talked about computers and how they can fill one's head with a lot of "things."
"But a computer can never love you," he said, drawing giggles from the students. "Love is the most important thing in life."
Zenon Lewyckyj, 13, of Rochester was impressed the bishop flew from Great Britain to attend the school's Diamond Jubilee.
"He represents how someone can come all the way around the world and visit his school family," Zenon said. "I learned from him how to interact with others and it's good to learn from someone like him."
Larysa Nona, 12, of Bloomfield Hills said she was happy to meet the bishop.
"It makes me proud that he came to visit us," she said.
At the end of his address, the children sang " Mnohaya Lita" or "Many Years" — a song honoring guests and wishing them many years of life and happiness.
