period of inquiry and introduction. The inquiry period is followed by formation

and preparation for the sacraments. Reception into our community then oc-

curs at the Easter Vigil. This formation process is for those who wish to find

out more about the Catholic Church with the possibility of being received into

the faith. If you are interested, or just want more information, phone @ 503-

769-2656. Classes begin Wed., Sept. 5th @ 6:30 pm in the Parish Center.

Catholics are also welcome!!!

Podrá ver que estamos bastante so-

¡Gracias!

A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR

The Feast of Assumption!

Please pay attention to August 15th which is a Holy Day of

Obligation. You may follow the Mass schedules in our vi-

cariate. I hope everyone will make an effort to fulfill your

spiritual obligation that day. I have received a flyer about

“Novena for Our Nation.” This novena will be led by Ms.

Mary Stuckart. Basically, we will pray the 54 day Rosary

Novena for freedom and faith in America from August 15th

through October 7th which is the feast of our Lady of Ro-

sary. You may contact Ms. Mary Stuckart for more infor-

mation. My hope is more Catholics will pray the rosary for

our young children and for our country. I believe: the more

we pray the rosary, the more peace we will get.

Immaculate Conception parishioners will find an insert of

our financial report of 2017-2018 in this bulletin. So you

have a glimpse of how we have done financially last year.

You can see that we are over budget by quite a bit. Any-

way, I would like to thank all parishioners who are faithful

to your contributions for your parish. Looking at the new

budget of this year 2018-2019, we (C and I) have a re-

quest that each household would consider to increase

your weekly contribution by 15% in order to balance our

budget this year. I know many families are struggling with

fixed incomes. My word is: we carry the cross together; we

share the burdens. So if 15% is too much for you, please

do the best you can. We trust in your generosity to help us

to continue the mission of our Church. We promise that

this year we will be more disciplined on our budget.

Thank you very much for your support. May all of you enjoy

the rest of the summer. We welcome all visitors with us

this weekend. We also pray for all the sick and dying in our

parishes. Fr. Luan

Join us at the Ministry Fair Septem-

ber 8/9 for a celebration of the many

ministries supported by our parish.

life of our parish or consider new opportunities.

Through the gifts of time and talent that our parishion-

ers so generously share, we are able to truly be the hands

and feet of Jesus Christ in our parish and community.

Many thanks to all those faithful and generous stewards

in our parish!
