Catholic Church—Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston July 4 - July 10, 2020 - Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time IMMACULATE CONCEPTION Greetings, good men and women of Immaculate Conception in Sealy! My name is Fr. Jonathan Moré, and I am excited to be your new pastor! (Technically administra- tor, but the difference only affects me.) I am looking forward to meeting all of you as time goes on, and in particular once the COVID threat passes. In the meantime, here are a few facts about me: I was born and raised Catholic in west Houston. I was ordained a priest on June 3, 2017. Prior to ordination, I lived at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, less than a 10- minute walk from the Vatican, while studying at the Pontifical Gregorian University. I like reading, listening to music, and growing hot peppers. I am especially devoted to St. Augustine, St. Rita, and Bl. Miguel Pro. I look forward to walking with you as we seek to follow Christ and his Church, seeking excellence in the pursuit of holiness. May God make our souls receptive to his grace, our minds docile to his truth, and our hearts afire with love for him and for our neighbor. God bless you all. Fr. P. Welcoming our New Pastor, Fr Jonathan Moré Let us all take the first step in welcoming Fr Jonathan by simply helping him remember our names! Start by wearing a name tag for a couple of weeks to mass. Either wear one that you have made at home or pick up one from the table in the narthex. Our masks will certainly add to the chal-lenge of getting to know everyone since our faces will be partially covered, and wearing a name tag may help tre-mendously.

St. Teresa of Calcutta’s Prayer for Priests Mary, Mother of Jesus,

throw your mantle of purity over our priests.

Protect them, guide them, and keep them in your heart.

Be a Mother to them, especially in times of discouragement and loneliness.

Love them and keep them belonging completely to Jesus.

Like Jesus, they, too, are your sons, so keep their hearts pure and virginal.

Keep their minds filled with Jesus, and put Jesus always on their lips,

so that he is the one they offer to sinners and to all they meet.

Mary, Mother of Jesus, be their Mother, loving them and bringing them joy.

Take special care of sick and dying priests, and the ones most tempted.

Remember how they spent their youth and old age, their entire lives serving and giving all to Jesus.

Mary, bless them and keep a special place for them in your heart.

Give them a piece of your heart, so beautiful and pure and immaculate,

so full of love and humility, so that they, too, can grow in the likeness of Christ.

Dear Mary, make them humble like you, and holy like Jesus. Amen.

CCE Department Requests Toys for Babysitting

When the 2020-2021 school year begins, there will be a new Babysitting Room (Nursery) for children of our Catechists on Sunday mornings. It will be located in the CCE Building next to the Copy Room. This room was previously used as a Kindergarten classroom. We are in need of very gently used toys for our Babysit-ting Room. Toys need to have surfaces that can be wiped down and sanitized. Age levels are from infant to 4 years old. Please make sure that the toys are clean and drop them off at the CCE office, now located in the main parish office building. If you have any questions, please call the CCE Office at 979-885-0018 or email [email protected].

Share the Burden “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

These words of our Savior seem to be in stark contrast to the previous chapter from the same Gospel, when we were told that if we do not take up our crosses, we are not worthy of Christ. Connecting these two messages might help us on our faith journeys. Being a follower of Christ surely means that we must embrace the cross, in its mystery of both suf-fering and triumph. This is something that we need not do alone, for the burden is often too heavy for us to carry by ourselves. Who, then, do we turn to? We can turn to the Body of Christ—the community of disciples gathered for wor-ship. When we find the burden too heavy, let us remember that we can share that burden with our Christian sisters and brothers, who can help bring us rest.
