System requirements

a) Microsoft Windows NT Server 4 with Service Pack 6a or higher installed

b) Internet Information Server 4 with ASP (Active Server Pages) – included in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack

c) Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 with SP3 installed

d) Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher for Clients.

(All in Intel platform)

For NES Edition - General System requirements:

a) Intel compatible computer with Microsoft Windows NT Server 4 installed. Service Pack 6a or higher is strongly recommended

b) Internet Information Server 4 (IIS4) with ASP (Active Server Pages) – included in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack

c) Web Client access: Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher recommended.Also compatible with Netscape 3 or higher.

The NES Edition installs ONLY on a non-Exchange server NT machine.To do this, be sure you have first installed and configured as default e-mail client:Windows Messaging / Outlook 97 / 98 / 2000 or Microsoft Exchange Administrator on the targeted NT machine.

Before installing the product

IMI Mailbox WEB Console (IMIMWC) consists of two parts:Service - IMI for MS Exchange and a WEB based client application.The correct performance of the service requires its operation under security context of Exchange Server.The Account of IMI for MS Exchange Service could be that of Exchange Server or Exchange Administrator, which has rights upon Exchange Organization, Exchange Site and Exchange Server.

Log on the system by using the Account with which you will install IMI for MS Exchange Service. Create a new directory on one of your discs, for example “IMI Mailbox WEB Console Install”. Download the newest version of IMIMWC from www.imibo.com and save it in that directory.

Installation of IMI Mailbox WEB Console

Start IMIMWC.exe fail – this is the installation program, which will install IMI Mailbox WEB Console on your computer.

It will start a Wizard, which will guide you during the installation. Follow the instructions, which will appear, on your screen.

In the Name field enter your name, and in the Company field enter the name of the company you work for.

Indicate the directory, where IMI Mailbox WEB Console will be installed.By default the application will be installed in directoryc:\Program files\IMIBO\IMI Mailbox WEB Consoleand it is not critical to its change.

Indicate the name of Program Folder, which will give you access to IMI Mailbox WEB Console documentation.

Program Folder IMIBO will be created by default. The installment of the product is not critical to its change.

The installation of the application including both IMI for MS Exchange Service and the WEB based application - IMI Mailbox WEB Console will begin.

Pay attention to the screen that follows.

For the correct installment of the service part of IMI Mailbox WEB Console - IMI for MS Exchange it is very essential to select the check box Yes, Launch the program file, i.e. before pressing the Finish button, the window of the installation program should look as shown on the figure above.

If you have followed the above stated requirement a window will appear indicating that the installation of the service has been successful.

If this window doesn’t appear, you have probably not selected the check box-a Yes, Launch the program file from the previous screen. The next activities, indicated with italic script should be performed only if the window Service installed successfully doesn’t appear.

Go to Start -> Run. With the button Browse go to the directory where IMI Mailbox WEB Console application has been installed - c:\Program files\IMIBO\IMI Mailbox WEB Console and choose ServInst.exe file. (Look at the figure below).Press ОК button.This will correct your error. Once again we remind you to perform these activities only if you have missed to select the check box Yes, Launch the program file in the installation process.

Post-installation Activities

1. CONFIGURATION OF Service IMI for MS Exchange

Open Control Panel and start Services.

Find the new Service IMI for MS Exchange in the list of your services.

Select it and press Startup button.

By default IMI for MS Exchange is installed with System Account. At the Log on As option: select This Account and indicate User, which has administrative rights upon Exchange Organization, Exchange Site and Exchange Server. This could be Exchange Administrator or Accounts with which Exchange Server is operating.

Press OK button.

2. CONFIGURATION OF DCOM Config

If you are acquainted with DCOM technology check whether IIS has rights upon IMI Mailbox WEB Console. If you aren’t well acquainted with DCOM do the following:

Find DCOMCNFG.EXE program in the directory WINNT\system32 and start it.

Find IMI for MS Exchange DCOM Object in the list with DCOM objects, which are installed on your computer.

Press Properties... button.

This will give you access to Properties of IMI for MS Exchange DCOM Object.

Check General options.

Check Location

Check Security

Check whether IUSR_MACHINENAME and IWAM_ MACHINENAME have Launch and Access Permissions of the object, where MACHINENAME is the name of the server on which the application has been installed. If the list doesn’t contain these two Accounts, add them.

In Identity check whether DCOM object operates with the same account with which the service works.

3. configuration of IIS (Internet Information Server)

For proper operation of the Web based part of the application its necessary to create a virtual directory of the WEB server.

Open Microsoft Management Console in the IIS section – it’s located in the folder Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack -> Internet Information Server.

Select the virtual web server (Default Web Site is default) you would like to install on. Right-click on the site and select New -> Virtual directory.

Type the name of the new virtual directory (for example IMIMWC).

Select the inetpub directory in the IMIBO folder (c:\ Program files\IMIBO\IMI Mailbox WEB Console\inetpub by default) as physical way to the virtual directory, containing the WEB application.

Select Properties for the newly created virtual directory.

Go to Documents tab. Find out whether for this directory default document is default.htm.

Select Directory Security.

Click Edit button in Anonymous and Authentication Control section.

Click Edit, and make sure BASIC authentication and ANONYMOUS are both selected.

In Account used for Anonymous Access click Edit button and check that account is same as account IUSR_MACHINENAME

For Default domain for basic Authentication check that domain is same as default domain in Exchange server.

Users in the default domain can enter their usernames without specifying a domain name when they log on to IMI Mailbox WEB Console. IMI Mailbox WEB Console supports also NT Challenge/Response, however in order users to enter less information when logging we recommend not to use it.

De-select NT Challenge-Response. Anonymous access must be enabled for users to access IMI Mailbox WEB Console plain HTML pages, such as the login page, without logging in. The use of Anonymous access will not allow unauthorized persons to view or make changes to the Exchange directory. All users must log in before they are allowed to change Exchange directory information (see IMI Mailbox WEB Console user’s guide).

The web server must be configured so that all users that will be using IMI Mailbox WEB Console can log in.In the User Manager for Domains go to the Policies menu and select User Rights.

You must give all IMI Mailbox WEB Console users the right to “Access this computer from the network” and to “Log on locally”. If all Exchange users are members of the global group Domain Users check whether Domain Users have these rights. If can also to add Everyone likely more convenient.

The file system permissions on the web server must also be set so that all IMI Mailbox WEB Console users have Read access to the \IMIBO\IMI Mailbox WEB Console\inetpub directory and its subdirectories.

Check whether the new virtual directory holds the necessary rights:

It should have Read and Script Access.

After you have checked these configurations you can go to Service Manager and start from there IMI for MS Exchange by pressing the Start button.

IMI Mailbox WEB Console is now installed and ready. Point your browser to http://YOUR_SERVER/imimwc/ and check whether the application operates correctly. All possibilities offered by IMI Mailbox WEB Console are described in IMI Mailbox WEB Console user guide.

UNINSTALL NOTES

To uninstall IMI Mailbox WEB Console Service you should be perform these tasks:

- Start Services applet from Control Panel

- Stop IMI for MS Exchange Service

Go to Go to Start -> Run. With the button Browse go to the directory where IMI Mailbox WEB Console application has been installed - c:\Program files\IMIBO\IMI Mailbox WEB Console and choose imiesrv.exe file. Leave a space after the name of the file and write

-UNINSTALL(look at the figure below).

Press ОК button.This will uninstall service.

If you have followed the above requirement a window will appear indicating that the uninstallation of the service has been successful

(look at the figure below).

Then run Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel and remove IMI Mailbox WEB Console.
