Accountability and Governance Theme Imagine Cup Indonesia 2015 |World Citizenship Competition BACKGROUND Government through its two vital branches, i.e. legislature (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat/DPR) and judiciary (Mahkamah Agung/MA and Komisi Yudisial/KY), play significant roles that directly impact people lives. Their decisions in the forms of legislation and court judgment will decide fate and path of many conflicting interests. To make sure that what they legislate will be for the sake of public interest, and judgment they render will be for the sake of justice, an effective tool to enable communication and feedback between community and their DPR and MA/KY will help both government branches improve their constitutional mandates to serve the public interests and to preserve justice above all. This tool will serve both purposes: firstly, to enable DPR and MA/KY to benefit from public review over draft legislation, and public oversight over courts judgments, and secondly to allow public participation and oversight in law making process and judiciary performance.
