UNIFORM & DRESS CODE INFRACTIONS

Our school is committed to ensuring that our school uniform and dress code is properly implemented. Please review the attached information and our Parent/Student Handbook for our uniform and dress code, and take some time to review this information with your child.

Our teachers will be checking daily to make sure that all our students are adhering to the school uniform and dress code, and will be notifying you via email if this is not the case.

Please note the following aspects of our dress code:

Hair: Must be clean, neatly-styled, and not obstruct a clear view of the face. Hair color must be of the student’s natural hair color, with minor blended highlighting of a similar shade permissible. Hairstyles which include unnatural coloring, draw undue attention, or disrupt the educational environment are not allowed. Any facial hair must be kept neatly groomed and closely trimmed with clean lines and a uniform length at all times.

Jewelry: One stud earring in each earlobe, a simple chain necklace (must be tucked in), one bracelet, one ring, and a basic wristwatch may be worn.

Cosmetics: Minimal makeup in natural or neutral colors, with pale-colored or clear lipstick, is permissible. Clear, natural, or a single solid color nail polish may be worn. Nails must be kept at a length of ¼” or shorter.

Accessories: No hats, caps, visors, scarves, sweaters (other than approved uniform sweaters or fleece jackets), sunglasses, gloves, or ear warmers are to be worn during school hours in the classroom. Cultural headcovers and hair accessories in the school colors of solid red, black, white, or school plaid are permissible.

Sweaters/Coats: Only solid black cardigan uniform sweaters or school-approved red or black fleece jackets purchased from the school uniform supplier may be worn in the classroom. School-approved letter jackets may also be worn in the classroom. During the winter, students may wear coats to school, which are to be removed upon entering the building. Students in Grades 11-12 students are permitted to wear the school-approved blazer.

Shoes: Must be black, closed-toe dress or athletic shoes with no more than 1.5” heels. Athletic shoes must be primarily black, but may have red, grey, or white accents. Shoe laces for dress shoes must be solid black in color, and for athletic shoes, may be black, white, or grey. Patterned materials, slippers, sandals, flip-flops, high heels, jellies, platform shoes, high-top shoes, boots of any kind, or any shoes with an open toe or heel greater than 1.5” are not permitted.

Spirit Days: School-approved spirit shirts may be worn with blue denim full-length jeans or approved school uniform bottoms on Wednesdays. Jeans must not have any rips, shreds, or tears. Regular school uniform shoe and outerwear policies apply on Spirit Days. Students may wear socks of their choice.

Athletes: Student playing competitively on an Imagine sports team may wear their team jersey on game days.

For students in Grades 6-12, the following actions will be taken to address uniform and dress code infractions:

Community Closet: Certain uniform items may be temporarily borrowed for the duration of the school day from the Dean of Student’s office for an initial dress code infraction. Borrowed items must be returned to the Dean and do not exempt students from incurring an infraction.

Sweaters/Coats/Outerwear: Students must remove any non-school-approved outerwear upon entering the school building. Any unapproved outerwear will be confiscated by teachers/staff members during the first class period of the day and returned to students at dismissal. Students will have the option of remaining indoors if the weather is too cold to go outside during the school day.

Jewelry: Jewelry beyond what is permitted in the dress code will be confiscated by teachers, secured, and returned to students at dismissal.

Nails: Students with nail coloring that is not clear, natural, or a single solid color, or nails of a length greater than ¼” will be expected to correct this within 24 hours.

Hair: Students not meeting dress code expectations related to hair, including length and coloring, will be expected to correct this within 24 hours.

Shoes: Students not meeting dress code expectations related to shoes will be expected to correct this within 24 hours, and will be asked to wear black shoe covers (provided by the Dean) over their shoes while inside the school building for the duration of the day, if they do not have appropriate shoes to change into.
