PLAN
I have to produce 3 final photographs for a potential book cover my chosen title is: The Book of Imaginary Beings By Jorge Luis Borges, I am going to produce two to three sets of initial photographs and then during the
development stage edit them to create hopefully good outcomes. For my first set of photographs I plan on going to a forest or park having the subject of the photograph in the center surrounded in “imaginary beings”, and then
editing them similar to the artist I focus on. For my second set I plan on using a studio and projecting images around the subject and then for development
experimenting on what will produce the best outcome.
BRIEF
Maurizio Anzeri
I chose to look at this photographer as I think it helped
when taking my own set, as I had a similar way of doing things, as I
planned on printing several photographs and sewing after,
although I also scratched into my images for a slightly different
outcome.
ARTIST RESEARCH
IDEA 1-INITIAL
DEVELOPMENT
For my development I have chosen to scratch and sew into my photos as you can see, I have also chosen to edit one or two on photo shop to see what other after effects I could add.
I edited this developed photo on photo shop, using the dodge tool I made the background darker, I think
the outcome looks a lot better as it allows us to
focus on the lighter subjects of this photograph.
EDIT
For this photograph I tried a different type of development, by editing it on photo shop to remove one of the subjects faces in order to lead peoples eyes to the “beings” over him, as this is the part of the photo I wanted to stand out, this is one of my favorite photos, this is mainly because I really like the composition as everything is central.
I like this set of photographs in a way all though I can definitely see ways in which they could be improved. For example although the photos come out fairly well I could have planned this set a lot more in terms of focusing in the dark, so measuring distance between subject and F stop before it got dark so it wouldn’t just be trial and error. Furthermore could’ve also planned lighting better so maybe artificial lighting with camera flash off. Development: Images have been sewn into as well as scratched into and then all re photographed on top of a light box.
I plan on projecting images on to a wall in a studio then having the subject in the center so none of the images are over the top of her, after this I plan on developing my photos in different ways in order to create I similar effect to
the artist I researched.
PLAN
I chose this artist in order to gain a different way of creating a good set of photos throughout my development, as I really like the effect of these photographs.
Gary Auerbach
Photopolymer Gravures: He experiments with the way he
takes photos in order to create a completely different outcome,
this is more or less exactly what I plan to do he's work includes
engraving into a print then pressing, where as intend on
creating a similar effect but by trying different ways of doing it.

EDITS
First I tried to create a similar effect by using photo
shop.

Second Set: Projection
Initial: I prefer the outcomes from this set of photos as I think it really portrays what the book may be about. I also think this set of photos need very
little editing when presenting as simple projection images. However throughout my development I experimented with ways they could be edited after being printed. I really like the way these photos turned out certain ones
more than others, and really enjoyed creating different outcomes.
EVALUATION
FINAL 3
I picked these photos as my final three as I think they were the best outcomes from all of my development. I also think they all create very different
outcomes, and to me were clearly the best and most well taken photos out of both of my sets.
WHY?
