Location There are going to be several locations to our music video including a fair scene which we are using in a flashback and also a dog walk as a flashback. Furthermore we have also got a bedroom scene, car scene.
To get an idea of similar music videos we chose Mumford and Sons ‘I Will Wait’
video as it is a similar genre:• There aren’t really any visual links between the lyrics and the music video as its very much performance based.
• There isn’t really much links between the music and the visuals because they are a performance based band that uses their music videos as a live performance. One clear link that you can see between the music and visuals is that you can see them playing their instruments as well as hearing them through the music.
• Genre characteristics- folk music is focused on acoustic instruments and meaningful, thoughtful lyrics that reflect changes in life. This is shown in Mumford and Sons ‘I will wait’, as they are all playing their acoustic instruments and the song they are singing is very meaningful as it is about a relationship. This links in with a lot of Ed Sheeran’s videos as they are meaningful songs about life and relationships, a good example of this could be ‘The A team’•Mumford and Sons songs are all performance based, whereas Ed Sheeran’s songs are mainly narrative based.
•In August 2009, Mumford & Sons signed a licensing deal to Island Records in the UK, to Dew Process in Australia and New Zealand, to Glassnote Records in North America and Cooperative Music in the rest of the world, and through its own label Gentlemen of the Road.
•The clothing they are wearing is very rustic, which shows that they are a very traditional looking band and the way they are using their instruments in their music video, portrays the fact that they are musicians. Similarly Ed Sheeran’s outfits are very casual and everyday clothing supposed to looking very costume like for example Lady Gaga.
•Furthermore the long shots of the crowds shows that they enjoy playing their music live and getting the audience involved by getting them to clap to the music. You can also tell that they are genuinely enjoying themselves from the close ups of their faces.
Actors
Our chosen actors for the music video are Yasmin and George . The reasons that we have chosen these characters are because
they have both studied drama so have a good idea of how to portray characters. Furthermore they both fit the criteria as they are in the right age range and are the right genders for the characters.
Costume
For the costumes we have decided to use casual clothing so this will mean that the actors will be wearing either jeans and a top or jeans and a jumper. From researching other music videos from similar genres, the majority of costumes are just casual every day to day clothing.

Chosen magazine
Rolling Stone magazine uses Ed Sheeran as the ‘Man of the People’ showing that fans want to see and read what Sheeran has to say.He answers questions that fans send in and gives more depth about his life and what is entailed in the day-to-day routine of a pop folk artist.Rolling Stone has mass media production and focus groups have suggested Sheeran as a popular artist who has made his music well-known across the world, being especially famous for his live acoustic guitar sets.Having Sheeran on the cover of the magazine highlights an interest in mass audiences, therefore making the magazine perfect for our advert. This is because our advert displays Sheeran the way his fans love to see him.
