SKETCHBOOK DOODLES

In this exercise we were supposed to just doodle for two pages in ink. This was a fun and interesting way to start off the class. It definitely showed off everyone’s creative style and got us comfortable.

AVATAR PROJECT

AVATAR FINAL

This project was set up for us to use 4 different drawing techniques while incorporating the name of our group, “Sketchbusters” into our own avatar. We were required to use line, stippling, crosshatching, and shading in equal parts.

BEDTIME STORY

BEDTIME STORY FINAL

This project was to take a phrase and make it come to life basically. I chose the phrase “Sure! I can ride that!”. I wanted to take something imaginative and keep it sort of fake, but give a little bit of life to it. I decided to add the saddle after the comp to get the “ride” from the phrase a little more emphasis.

PRODUCT ILLUSTRATION

If I had to choose one favorite this would be it. We were to use stippling or crosshatching to illustrate an item of our choice. I had never done stippling before and I have found a new love for it after this project. So much preciseness in this technique, but well worth it. I tried really hard to capture the shiny-ness in the indentions of the shoe.

MATTE PAINTINGIn the process of this project I was moving and did not get to include the figure in front of the background. But this is supposed to be the background for our choice of “action figure”.

Done with watercolor and carbon pencil.

A WALK THROUGH THE FOREST

A WALK THROUGH THE FOREST FINAL

This was a lot of fun. We had basically 7 choices in objects that we saw in our imaginary forest while we walked through it. I chose the WALL. I didn’t see a regular wall, I saw a wall of little imaginary creatures. I had never really used watercolor until this point, so it was interesting to discover what and how to do things with that medium.

STUDENT CHOICE FINAL

This project was to go back and find something from the class that we wanted to push farther. I decided to go back to my first doodles we did. I picked out my favorite part and applied some of the things I have learned throughout this class into the piece. I used a little crosshatching, and did a little more with shading.
