WELCOME, COME AND DISCOVER YORK IN A NEW LIGHT

Illuminating York is now in its eighth year; using modernlighting and projection technologies to celebrate the city ofYork’s unique architecture and history.

Taking place at the end of October, the Festival draws more than60,000 people to the city and in previous years has createdspecially commissioned digital artworks on many of the city’shistoric buildings, including York Minster, York Castle Museum,Yorkshire Museum and the City Walls as well as churches acrossthe city centre.

In 2012, Illuminating York heads to the York Museum Gardens ona dramatic scale transforming the 10 acres of botanical gardensinto a mystical and magical wonderland.

The renowned Vic Reeves has worked with York based artists BrightWhite Ltd, Bar Lane Studios, Arup and Chetwoods Architects tocreate this year's theme 'Wonderland' which promises to be morespectacular than ever before. Come and see the gardens in a newlight and expect the unexpected around every corner!

Come along to Illuminating York 2012 and discover York in a new light. Let yourself be transported through the gloriouschaos and absurd world of VIC REEVES . WONDERLAND. Lose yourself in the spectacularly lit 10 acres of YorkMuseum Gardens.

Old world meets new, as the hauntingly beautiful ruins of St Mary’s Abbey, the stunning facade of the Yorkshire Museumand part of the City Walls provide the background to a verymodern technological marvel.

See how modern lighting and technology showcase the work of Vic Reeves, transforming the peaceful, tranquil gardens into a maze of magic, mayhem and mischief!

Inspired by the absurd storytelling of Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, this exciting and magicalcollaboration has been created by York based artists Bright WhiteLtd, Vic Reeves, Bar Lane Studios, Arup and Chetwoods Architects.

Explore the gardens, twirl around and discover a new topsy-turvyworld, as the night is lit up by this amazing spectacle.

With over £500,000 of lighting transforming the gardens for theduration of the festival it promises to be a glowing event!

VIC REEVES . WONDERLAND is a ticketed event and westrongly advise that tickets are purchased in advance.

Tickets are priced £5 per person for over 16s; £1 per child for 5 – 16 year olds and under 5s are free. Children under 16 mustbe accompanied by a paying adult.†

Tickets are available for four time slots; you are welcome tostay for the duration of the event, however for safety reasonsthere will be no re-entry after leaving the gardens.

Time slots are:6.30pm – 7.30pm; 7.30pm – 8.30pm; 8.30pm – 9.30pm and9.30pm – 10.30pm* (*last admission at 10pm)

Each time slot has a maximum capacity, therefore we advisevisitors that they will only be allowed entry into York MuseumGardens within this hourly slot.
