Pasta Dinner in January Every year a few Club members get together to prepare several pasta dishes, salad & garlic bread as a fundraiser for Club Entertainment. Dinner is $10 per person and the food is fabulous! Casual Attire
This year we’re going to add a “Bake Sale” to this FUN fundraiser. You can bring a dessert, we’ll sliceit into individual servings and then you can buy any desserts you want for $5 each.
We’re also going to have a “Draw Down”. This is a great way to include all our friends that migrated towarmer weather for the winter.
A draw down is simply a raffle. Tickets are sold for $20 per ticket. Tickets are drawn throughout the night in groups of 15. Once your ticket is drawn, sadly, you are out. The last remaining ticket is the grand prize winner! Consolation prizes are also awarded for every 15th ticket. Win Cash!
Buy your tickets nowJust check in with Steve at the bar & he’ll get you started.
“Snowbirds” can join the fun too because you don’t need to be present to win.Buy your tickets now and get your lucky numbers!
• Sunday,January312noonThePenguinBowl&FonduePartyThis is where everyone brings their favorite food in a Penguin (insulated) bowl or their favorite fondue or appetizer to share. There will be a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board so we know what to plan for. While no reservations are required, it is appreciated if you sign up with the dish you’re going to bring. If you don’t want to make anything, that’s okay as well, you can do-nate money to help with the members who bring meat or fondue or better yet - shrimp! You are always welcome in the bar without being involved in the food activities. Casual Attire.

I have maintained a sailing resume, which has been very handy in demonstrating my qualifications when chartering bareboat. I have sailed with friends, especially Norm Meyn, family, crewed and sailed on small ships with the Archaeol-ogy Institute of America in the Eastern and Western Mediterranean. My favorite has been the Sea Cloud, 365 ft. square rigger built for E.F. Hutton and Marjorie Merriweather Post in the Caribbean. My PowerPoint talk will cover a wide range of experiences with color commentary by Norm Meyn. The photo is of most of the Campbell family on the J & E Riggin out of Rockland, Maine.
The social hour starts at 2:00 PM in the Commodore Room at the IVY Club, followed by the program at 3:00 PM. Dues this season are $10/person which includes beer, wine, or soda. You can bring snacks or appetizers to share if you like.

Beyond the BVI: A Lifetime of SailingAllen C. Campbell, M.D.
Although we joined the IVY Club in 1973 upon moving to Peoria, I have been successful in maintaining a very low profile. I owned and sailed a Star, an O’Day 22 and a Capri 22, racing some and crewing some, however, most of my sailing experience has been at various locations around the world.
Soup Cook OffSunday, January 17, 12noonIf you’re ready for a little friendly competition, bring your favorite soup for the annual cook-off.But if you’d rather sample the soups rather than make one, you can bring an appetizer, dessertor salad to share. January is National Soup Month, so plan to come to the Club and Celebrate!

Super Bowl Party February7Make this the best Super Bowl Party ever! Bring your favorite dish to share - it’s a pot-luck party. The Club will have draft specials and Steve will come up with some other fun cocktails for everyone. No reservations necessary, but let’s pack the house!
Notes from the Bridge December has been a very good month for the club. There have been a lot of parties - great events for everyone, every age. Wednesday and Friday days have had good food and drinks to create a very festive time. The holiday deco-rations are beautiful throughout the entire Club. The entertainment committee did an excellent job mak-ing sure each and every party was fun for all the members celebrating with their family and friends.
What’s coming in January and February? The Club will be offering Wednesday and Friday buffets. Be sure to read the IVY Leaf and the “Weekly Happening” emails for details.
We are also planning to make some changes to the dining menu, with many items rotating from week to week.
It’s your Club, so come down and enjoy it. Winter gives us an entirely different view of the river with ice, snow, an occasional eagle and of course Aflac, Flo and whatever the name of the male mallard is. Join us for dinner and drinks - the more members that participate, the better the club does. Happy New Year!

We were able to give them a very nice supply of kid’s hat’s, scarves and mittens, plus some stockings to put their gifts in. This was a wonderful way to give back during the holidays. Thank you to everyone that helped decorate the “Mitten Tree”.
