Located along the Illinois River, the 2,700-acre Starved Rock
State Park is one of Illinois’ most frequented sites, featuring 18
canyons and over 13 miles of hiking trails. Year round trolley
tours are offered, and you can go it alone or on a guided hike
to discover the canyons and waterfalls. Other local activities
include boating, fishing, water cruises, musical tribute shows,
art and photography shows, paint and wine classes, and drum
circles. There is something for everyone!

If you visit Starved Rock State Park, don’t miss Matthiessen
State Park, located only a few miles away. Tourists can spend
the day hiking into spectacular canyons while viewing grand
rock formations and the plethora of plant and animal life.
Relax in the Dells Area, complete with picnic tables, water
fountains, and playground equipment. For a unique experience,
you can also check out the field archery range or the radio
controlled model airplane field. Five miles of hiking trails and 9
miles of horseback riding trails also accommodate guests.
Matthiessen State Park is located in central LaSalle County,
about four miles south of Utica and three miles east of Oglesby.
