Mr. Nitin Gadkari, 57, was elected to the Lok Sabha from Nagpur in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Gadkari was born in a middle-class agricultural family in Maharashtra’s Nagpur City in central part of India. Gadkari has studied M.Com, LLB & Diploma in Business Management (DBM). Gadkari has been a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council since 1989. He was also the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council from 1999-2005. He was also President of the Maharashtra Pradesh BJP till 2009 when he was elevated to the post of the BJP National President to become the youngest ever party president. He was Minister for Public Works in Maharashtra between 1995-1999. There he gained first-hand experience of undertaking large scale infrastructure projects. “With Rs. 5 Crore equity, I earned the distinction of completing works worth 8,000 crores”; Gadkari often recalls this unique distinction he earned as the PWD Minister.

As Public Works Minister in Maharashtra, he built the Mumbai – Pune Expressway which was first of its kind in India. He is recognised for being pioneer of PPP in Road Sector in India. He was elected to Parliament from Nagpur in 2014 and become Minister for Road Transport Highways & Shipping in PM Narendra Modi’s government. In last two years this administration & visionary skill has been recognized and has been rated top performer in the government. From that experience he was asked by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to launch the National Highways Authority and Rural Roads Program.

Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman was born on 18th August 1959 in the temple town of Madurai, Tamil Nadu. She did her schooling and her graduation in Economics, from Seethalakshmi Ramaswamy College in Tiruchirapalli. She went on to do her Masters in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Indo-European Textile Trade was the focus of her draft Ph.D thesis. Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman served as an assistant to Economist in the Agricultural Engineers Association, UK in London. She subsequently worked as Senior Manager (Research and Analysis) with Price Waterhouse, London. During this time she also briefly worked with BBC World Service. On her return to India, she served as Dy. Director of the Centre for Public Policy Studies at Hyderabad. Her interest in education led her to lay the foundation of ‘Parnava’, a reputed school in Hyderabad. She was a member of the National Commission for Women from 2003-2005 and instrumental in voicing various issues of women empowerment. Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman joined Bhartiya Janata Party in 2008, and was made a member of the National Executive. She was nominated as party spokesperson in March 2010, from when she has been a full time party worker. Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman was inducted in the Union of India’s Cabinet in a Government led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 26th May 2014. She is now Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce and Industry.

Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu (born 11 July 1953) is an Indian politician and the current Railway Minister of India, under the Narendra Modi government. He is a Chartered Accountant by profession and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Since 1996, Prabhu has been a repeatedly elected Member of Parliament from Rajapur Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra as a member of the Shiv Sena (SS) political party. He quit Shiv Sena and joined BJP on 9 November 2014. He presently represents Haryana in Upper House of Indian Parliament.

Prabhu has held several government and semi government positions, which includes chairmanship of Maharashtra State Finance Commission, Saraswat Co-operative Bank, Member of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Board, among others. Prabhu has travelled to more than 100 countries. He is working on 16 global organizations and 9 strategic dialogues.

He was, at various times during the Premiership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee of 1998 to 2004, Industry Minister, Minister of Environment and Forests, Minister of Fertilizers & Chemicals, Power, Heavy Industry and Public Enterprises. As the Union Minister for Power he won praise for his performance. As Minister of Power, Prabhu introduced major reforms in India's power sector. He is credited with championing and enacting the Electricity Act of 2003 and the reforms that created securitization of dues from the states. He has been elected four times to the Lok Sabha, India's parliament, from Maharashtra since 1996. However, he lost his seat in the 2009 general election.

He was also Chairman of Task Force for Interlinking of Rivers with a status and rank of Union Cabinet Minister. He was elected a member of the World Bank parliamentary network and chaired the South Asia Water regional group of the World Bank.

Asia week rated him as one of three future leaders of India. As a mark of protest against the cancellation of Narendra Modi's keynote address at the Wharton India Economic Forum 2013, he called off his visit to the University. The NDA government under the leadership of Narendra Modi appointed him as the head of a high-level panel on power revamp — “Advisory Group for Integrated Development of Power, Coal and Renewable Energy” in July 2014.

On 9 November 2014, he was sworn-in as Cabinet minister in Narendra Modi government. He is currently the Union Railway Minister of India.

P. Ashok Gajapati Raju

Shri P.Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Son of Late Shri P.V.G.Raju, Rajah Saheb of Vizianagaram was born on 26th June, 1951. He was educated at Scindia School, Gwalior; Lovedale School, Ooty; Hyderabad Public School, Hyderabad and V.S.Krishna College Visakhapatnam. He is married to Suneela and has two daughters. He was a member of Andhra Pradesh State legislature for over twenty five years and was a Minister in the Govt. of A.P., for thirteen years holding the portfolios of Commercial Tax, Excise, and Legislative affairs, Finance, Planning and Revenue. Influenced by socialism and moved by the deplorable condition of the people, both socially and economically, he joined politics to serve the people. He took an active part in the struggle for the formation of a new district viz. Vizianagaram. His interest to improve education in the district led to the establishment of several governmental and non-governmental educational institutions. Presently he is Vice-Chairman of a trust The Maharaja Alak Narayana Society of Arts and Science (MANSAS) which is running twelve educational institutions in the district. As a Minister, he was associated with several developmental activities. He is keenly interested in the field of public health and the conservation of water and electricity. In pursuance of this ideal, he launched housing, drinking water and health schemes. He has traveled abroad to study town planning and to implement it suitably in Andhra Pradesh. He is a former President of Andhra Cricket Association. His efforts resulted in the establishment of several centres for imparting training in several sports at many places including Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram.

Mansukh L. MandaviyaMinister of State for Road Transport Highways Shipping,Chemical and Fertilizers

Shri Mansukh L. Mandaviya is from Gujarat, elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 2012. He had been a member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly from 2002-2007. Shri. Mandaviya had earlier been a member of the Committee on Petroleum & Natural Gas, National Welfare Board for Seafarers, and Committee on Chemicals & Fertilizers and also a Member of Select Committee of Rajya Sabha on Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill. As a Gujarat lawmaker, Shri Mandaviya has served the state as chairman of Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Ltd. Shri Mandaviya was sworn-in as Minister of State in the Union council of ministers on 5th July, 2016.

By Profession, Shri Mandaviya is a Businessman, Agriculturist/Farmer, Political and Social Worker. He has done a Certificate Course in Veterinary Live Stock Inspector and has been educated at Songadh Gurukul and Gujarat Agriculture University, S.K. Nagar, Dantiwada, Gujarat.

Shri Pon Radhakrishnan is the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Road Transport & Highways and Shipping. During the November 2014 cabinet reshuffle, he was shifted to this new portfolio from the Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises in the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. During May 2014, ‘Pon Rji’ or ‘Ponnar’ (as he is known popularly in the political fraternity) became the only Bharatiya Janata Paty (BJP) MP – having won from the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha constituency – to be included in the Union Government from Tamil Nadu. Radhakrishnan has been Tamil Nadu BJP’s President. He was recently replaced by Dr Tamilisai Sounderrajan, National Secretary of the party. Radhakrishnan’s USP, as a politician, is his clean image.

Shri Radhakrishnan is a graduate in Arts stream and also has a Law degree. He did his schooling from Nagercoil’s D.V.D.H. School and completed his graduation from Virudhu Nagar’s VHNSN College. He went on to complete his Law degree from Chennai’s Madras Law College. A lawyer by profession, social activist, and full time politician, Radhakrishnan has chosen to remain unmarried.

Shri Sanjay Mitra, who is presently holding charge of Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has joined IAS in the year 1982 and was allotted West Bengal cadre. He has held many important positions in the Centre and also in the State over the past three decades. Prior to his present assignment, he has held the post of Chief Secretary, as the head of the civil service in the state of West Bengal. During 2004-2011, he has held the post of Joint Secretary to Prime Minister in the office of Prime Minister where he had handled several important matters like internal security, energy and agriculture.

He has substantial experience in the power and infrastructure sectors, having headed the state power utility and was instrumental in implementing a major township development project on the outskirts of Kolkata and also many flagship programmes of the Government of West Bengal.

As Chief Secretary, Shri Mitra also chaired the state apex committee on road safety and was able to frame a working plan for remedial road safety measures. He is currently responsible for India’s $18 billion highways development programme and the preparation and monitoring of the country’s road safety initiatives like Golden Quadrilateral, Sethu Bharatham and Char Dham projects. He is also responsible for the administration of the regulatory frameworks for road transport, auto emission norms, vehicle safety regulations, public sector transport organizations and the development of international road interconnectivity.

Shri Mitra has degrees from the University of Delhi and the JF Kennedy School where he was a Mason Fellow in 1995-96.

Mr. Yudhvir Singh Malik has been Chairman of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) since November 2016. Mr. Malik is 1983 batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre. Prior to this appointment, he was posted as Special Secretary in NITI Aayog. Prior to joining NITI Aayog, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India from September 19, 2014 to December 23, 2015 under Department of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Ms. Malik served as Government Nominee Director at India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited since December 4, 2015 until January 2, 2017.

He obtained his Degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT, Bhopal in 1987. He belongs to 1989 Batch of Indian Revenue Service. He went to Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi to complete his Masters in Production Technology in January, 1989. He also has a degree in Law. Thereafter he was selected in Indian Engineering Services and did a brief stint with Indian Railways, after which he joined Indian Revenue Service. He has served in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi in various capacities.

He has a deep insight into business eco-system and administration.

He worked as Director of Central Institute of Road Transport, Pune for about two years. He has rich experience of automobile testing and homologation.

Presently he is working as Joint Secretary in Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and is looking after transport division of MoRTH. He is dealing with policy matters relating road safety, transportation, vehicle regulations & emission norms.

Adesh SharmaManaging Director, Dedicated FreightCorridor Corporation of India Limited

Shri Adesh Sharma assumed the charge of Managing Director of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited on 20.10.2014. A Gold Medallist in Civil Engineering from NIT, Allahabad, he belongs to the 1979 batch of Indian Railway Service of Engineers.

Before taking over the charge of Managing Director/ DFCCIL, he was working as Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) in South Western Railway, Bangalore and has vast experience in Rail Project execution and implementation in rail transportation. He has completed 10 Rail Construction Projects of New Lines, doubling and Gauge conversion. He had worked in various capacities in Indian Railways at divisional, zonal and Railway Board level which includes Divisional Railway Manager/Hubli, Chief Engineer (Construction), Executive Director (Vigilance)/Railway Board and Professor at Indian Railways Institute of Civil Engineering, Pune.

While working as CAO/Construction, South Western Railway was awarded Railway Ministers Efficiency Shield for being Best Construction Organisation in Indian Railways for two consecutive years, i.e., 2012-13 & 2013-14 for surpassing the targets by 25% & for commissioning of 240 km of new line, gauge conversion and doubling works respectively. During his tenure as DRM/Hubli in 2008-2010, the Division surpassed the loading target of 36 million tonnes/year and bagged 7 Efficiency Shields including Overall Efficiency Shield for South Western Railway.

The pace of progress has improved five-fold in both the corridors and during the last 2 years DFC project has gained great momentum under the dynamic leadership of Shri Adesh Sharma.

Few of the major achievements are awarding of major Civil, Electrical and System Contracts worth Rs.35,500 crores (6 billion US$) in last 2 years compared to contracts worth Rs.13,000 crores (2 billion US$) awarded during last 7 years; World Bank loans of 1750 million US$ for Phase 2 and Phase 3 of Eastern Corridor got sanctioned in November, 2014 and June, 2015 respectively; Expedited the process of Land

Acquisition and completed 96% of land acquisition by close liaisoning with State Governments; Track linking with Mechanised track laying machine started for the first time in India during June, 2015 in Eastern Corridor and October, 2015 in Western Corridor. Track laying of 500 kms has been completed during last 2 years; 5-fold improvement in the progress of works of both the Corridors; Awarded with ‘Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability’ for the year 2016 by DFCCIL; trial monitoring of the progress of work through Drone has been started in DFC; The latest technology has been used in the field of Track, Signalling and Safety by using mechanised laying of track, use of Thick Web Switches and Canted Turnouts, use of Train Protection Warning System (TPWS) for ensuring safety and using Mobile Radio Communication for better TMS; and Use of end of Train Telemetry System (EOTT) has been planned to reduce manpower in the form of ‘Guard’ and improve loading tonnage/train by eliminating Guard Van from trains.

Mr. Allwyn Crasto is an expert in transportation and distribution safety and currently is Head – Transportation and Distribution Safety for BASF Group in South Asia. He has over 24 years of multi-functional work experience in EHS, Supply Chain, Production Planning, Finance, Human Resources and Administration. He is also well versed in the field of chemical regulations, emergency response and fire prevention.

He is closely associated with the Indian Chemical Council and as a member of the EHS/sustainability expert committee has represented ICC with the Ministry of Environment and Forests and Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Government of India. Also for the past three years in succession, he has been on the expert jury at the annual Mahindra Transport Excellence Awards which is supported by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India

His interests are to improve the safety standards for transportation of chemicals in India and enhance the emergency response facilities for offsite chemical incident and accident management. As a first step towards this he has partnered with the Indian Chemical Council to conduct the 3 days driver training course on Hazardous Goods transportation at BASF and has facilitated training of over 500 drivers. He, as a founder and member of the steering committee is actively associated with Nicer Globe, a Responsible Care initiative of ICC for providing a technology platform to the Indian chemical industry for safe transportation and for setting up of 24/7 Emergency Control Centre and Emergency Response Centre’s and Services for offsite chemical incidents and accident management.

Alkesh Kumar Sharma, IASChief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited

Mr. Alkesh Kumar Sharma is presently working as Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited. He is also Member Secretary and CEO of National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust. The Industrial Corridors are being developed by the Government of India as global manufacturing and investment destinations by setting up investment regions supported by the world-class infrastructure and enabling policy framework. The projects are aimed at the development of futuristic, smart industrial cities in India which will converge and integrate eco-friendly and sustainable technologies across sectors. In addition to new cities, the projects envisage development of infrastructure linkages like dedicated power plants, assured water supply, high capacity transportation, logistics facilities and Airports.

Before joining this, Mr Sharma was working as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India for three years, where he handled matters relating to land acquisition, forest and environment clearances, review and monitoring of National Highways Projects, coordination with Railways, Defence and other agencies and all matter related to toll and toll policy on the national highways. He was also Chairman of the Indian Highways Management Company Ltd.

Mr. Sharma worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as National Project Director, Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation and served there for three years.

In the State of Kerala, Mr. Sharma worked as the Managing Director of Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation, Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation, Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited, Malabar

Cement Limited and Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation. He also worked as Director, Kerala Tourism and as Secretary, Industries and Investment Promotion in Government of Kerala. He was Director in the Board of BPCL, Apollo Tyres, Nitta Gelatin India Ltd and Geojit BNP Paribas Ltd.

Mr. Sharma was actively associated with branding and promoting Kerala Tourism as ‘God’s Own Country’ during his two tenures spanning over seven years. During his tenure, Kerala won the Best Tourism State Awards from Government of India as well as various Awards from PATA and other International Agencies. Mr. Sharma was associated with core team of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) launched by the Prime Minister of India in December, 2005.

Mr. Sharma received the best CEO Awards from the Government of Kerala, the President’s Medal for the Best District Census Officer and the Best Performance Award from the Government of Kerala.

Mr. Ahmad spent 10 years in the field, first as the Deputy Resident Representative and Principal Economist in Johannesburg, and then as Regional Team Leader of the Water and Sanitation Program in New Delhi. In 2004, he was a team member of the World Development Report (WDR): Making Services Work for Poor People. From 2004-2008, he was the Sector Manager for Social Development in South Asia Region and subsequently for Urban, Water & Sanitation before taking on the latter responsibility for the Africa Region in 2010. He was also the Director for Sustainable Development in the Middle East and North Africa Region, a position he held from 2012-2014.

Mr. Mukund Kumar Sinha belongs to the 1988 batch of Special Class Railway Apprentice of Indian Railways. He has served across a range of strategic and operational assignment in India. He has taken over the charge of Officer on Special Duty (Urban Transport) in the Ministry of Urban Development on 2nd December 2013, where he works as the head of the nodal office for rail and road based urban transport in India. Shashi Verma is the Chief Technology Officer and Director of Customer Experience at Transport for London (TfL). He joined Transport for London (TfL) in September 2002 in the Corporate Finance team. Mr. Verma is responsible for the operation of TfL's revenue collection system including the Oyster card; the largest smartcard based ticketing system in the world. During his business career, he has successfully executed challenging assignments of Strategic planning for rapid organizational development, new business start up, market plan execution, budgeting/finance, supervision and mentoring; Expanding in new business areas through own offices and agents; Establishing business tie ups with various companies internationally; Implementation of ERP Software & ISO systems; and Handling Legal Activities

As a past President in Rotary Club of Mumbai Lakers, he was awarded Internationally Prestigious ‘Change Maker Award’ in the year 2012. Till date he continues to hold various positions of responsibility at the Club and District level in the Rotary World.
