Medicine is a life-long learning. Nowadays,research is doubling our knowledge bank .We must accept the fact that there is a big gap between what is known and what is practiced.Pediatricians in practice need to maintain their level of competence. Continuing medical education should be the essential feature in the practice of modern medicine to maintain the doctor's ability to provide quality patient care.As we become Senior Practitioners our priority list changes….. more of family responsibilities less of academics[so came the concept of pleasurable learning] ….the melas that we have…where unfortunately pleasure overrides learning .In today's fast life where priorities keep changing, online quality CME’s by senior experts in their speciality where pharma industry is not involved is the need of the hour.Let us hope things change[for the better]……

ORS week for year 2013 was celebrated from 22.07.2013 to 29.07.2013. The Theme for

this year was “ORS - Strategies to Change Behaviors in Community “

Numerous intercollegiate competitions were held for Undergraduates, Interns,

Postgraduates and Nurses, in different Medical Colleges of Mumbai. These activities were

jointly organised by IAP Mumbai Branch and Pediatric Department of Sion Hospital.

Poster Competition, Elocution, Jingles and Poem; Streetplay and Essay writing were held

in different Categories.

thOn 27 July a lecture series was organized under CDMP at IAP Mumbai office for

Practicing Pediatricians and Postgraduates, which covered different aspects of diarrheal

diseases like, Etiopathogenesis, Diagnosis of dehydration; ORS 'When and How' and

Drugs in Diarrhea. The faculty speakers were Dr Sailesh Gupta, Dr Alka Jadhav, Dr

Sridhar Ganpathy, Dr Bela Verma, Dr Sushma Save and Dr Sushant Mane.

Dr Alka Jadhav organised the ORS day Program on 29.07.2013 at Sion Hospital. Dr Abhay

Chowdhary Director, Haffkine Institute and HOD Microbiology, Sir J J Hospital and

GGMC, presided as the Chief Guest . The other guest faculty present were Dr Mamta

Manglani, Dr Sharat Menon , Dr Bela Verma, Dr Sushant Mane and faculty and HOD's

from Sion Hospital. Attractive prizes and certificates were given to all winners and

participants.
