III. SUPPORT FOR ISACA CHAPTERS ISACA recognizes that its members, especially its chapter leaders, are very busy people. Therefore, ISACA tries to make leading a chapter as easy as possible by providing a variety of tangible and electronic resources. Some help the chapter leader perform his/her responsibilities, others help the chapter promote itself and its benefits to current and potential members, and still others offer the chapter the opportunity to participate in recognizing (or being recognized for!) special achievement. Specifically, this section includes: y Information on ways ISACA provides administrative, strategic and other support to chapters, including funded meetings, staffing, reports and other materials, electronic resources, and discounts y Details on the ways ISACA helps the chapter promote itself and its benefits, including postings to the ISACA web site, listservs and web-based member benefits y Information on ISACA’s extensive awards program, designed to recognize chapter and individual excellence 91

ISACA CHAPTER SUPPORT ISACA supports its chapters in a variety of ways. The following pages provide a brief summary of many of these activities. Questions about any of these offerings, or suggestions for a new service ISACA might offer its chapters, may be directed to [email protected]. Funded Leadership Conferences Five leadership conferences are held annually, one per geographic area, in conjunction with the CACS conference held in the area. Every two to three years, ISACA hosts a funded Global Leadership Conference, which replaces all geographic leadership conferences for that year. Leadership conferences are specifically designed as networking and educational opportunities for chapter leaders and provide a forum for the exchange of ideas on a regional and global basis. New chapter officers, in particular, as well as returning officers will benefit from these conferences. There is no registration fee for the conferences, and chapters are provided reimbursement for the expenses of one attendee per chapter for the leadership conference in their geographic area or the Global Leadership Conference. This reimbursement is for airfare, related transportation, hotel and food expenses, less a deductible amount per chapter. Chapter leaders will receive ISACA’s specific reimbursement details prior to the event. This information will also be posted to the chapter leader area of the ISACA web site. The primary delegate from each attending chapter must submit an association expense report to the finance department at ISACA International Headquarters within 60 days of a funded leadership conference. Expense report forms are available for download on the chapter leader area of the ISACA web site. Up to two additional chapter officers (for a total of three per chapter) are welcome to attend the events at their own expense. Unfunded PCMs The association encourages chapter leaders within a geographic area to hold an additional meeting during the year, as desired. Chapter leaders are responsible for coordinating and funding these informal meetings and are asked to advise their ISACA Membership Board representative and the membership department at ISACA International Headquarters of meeting dates and location, in the event that an international representative may wish to attend. Prior to developing an agenda for the meeting, please contact the chapter relations team at ISACA International Headquarters ([email protected]), which may be able to provide suggestions on content that should be shared with chapter leaders. Membership Department/Chapter Relations Staff The membership department serves as the chapter relations liaison within ISACA International Headquarters. Chapter officers are encouraged to contact the membership department with any questions, concerns or suggestions. It is through chapter contributions that ISACA is able to refine its offerings, and it is through shared experiences that other chapters can benefit the most. If you chapter is located in Africa, Europe, Central North America, Eastern North America or Oceania, your chapter relations coordinator is Megan Moritz ([email protected] or +1.847.660.5587). If your chapter is located in Asia, Latin America or Western North America, your chapter relations coordinator is Brian Frankel ([email protected] or +1.847.660.5570). ExpressLine This monthly publication includes information on the latest association news and events. All chapter officers should make a point of reviewing this publication each month. Chapters are encouraged to use articles from ExpressLine in their local newsletters. ExpressLine is sent monthly in hard copy to all chapter presidents. An e-mail notification is sent to all chapter officers when the current edition becomes available for download on the chapter leader area of the ISACA web site.

Chapter Leader Resources Available on Web Site There is an area on the ISACA web site reserved only for chapter leaders. This area provides best practices, resources, tools, reports and other important information for chapters. The grids on the following pages provide detailed lists of items mailed in hard copy to specific chapter officers and what reports different officers can access on the chapter leader area of the ISACA web site. NOTE: Webmasters do not have access to the chapter leader area, as the vast majority of webmasters are not on a chapter board. If a chapter president confirms that a particular webmaster is on the chapter board, he/she will also be listed as a “miscellaneous board member,” which will grant him/her access to the chapter leader area of the ISACA web site. The president, program chair and education chair can each access a report that contains the contact information of other like positions in their geographic area. These positions were selected because they likely have the most need to share information with their peers who hold the same position (for speaker sharing, etc.). Additional positions can be added if the demand is high enough.

CHAPTER MARKETING INFORMATION

Ordering Flyers and Brochures from ISACA International Headquarters If the chapter needs print materials for a marketing event, the process is as follows: • The chapter should write to [email protected] and include the date of the event, the number of people

expected to be attending and the type of constituents attending (audit, security, students, etc.). The marketing department will work with the chapter to finalize what marketing pieces would apply to the event and the appropriate quantity.

• The marketing department will then initiate a request to ISACA’s mail center, which requires four business days to process a request, box and ship the materials. Actual shipping time is usually 1-2 weeks within the US and four weeks outside the US. This can be expedited if the chapter chooses to pay courier fees.

• If a chapter needs expedited shipping, the chapter can arrange to pay for this; however, this does not reduce the four business days ISACA’s mail center needs to process the order. Please keep this schedule in mind when planning events and determining marketing needs. Last minute requests will not be able to be arranged, so plans must be made accordingly.

Chapter Marketing Reimbursement Program Each year, ISACA provides marketing assistance funds to its chapters to assist them in their marketing efforts promoting membership and certification. To participate in the marketing assistance program, each chapter is required to submit a 2009 ISACA Marketing Assistance Program Submission Form. Chapters will be notified of eligible funding for reimbursements once they have submitted a completed 2009 ISACA Marketing Assistance Program Submission Form and it has been processed by the marketing department. Once the activity or promotion is completed, chapters can then submit a completed 2009 ISACA Marketing Assistance Program Reimbursement Form along with appropriate support documentation to receive funding for their marketing activities. Chapter leaders will be sent details regarding the 2009 program in October 2008 by e-mail. Please note that some marketing activities will require pre-approval and not all marketing activities/promotions will qualify for reimbursement under this program. Submission forms, reimbursement forms and guidelines will be posted in the chapter leader resource area of the web site at www.isaca.org/marketing. Important deadlines: • 31 October 2008—Reimbursement forms due with appropriate support documentation for the 2008

Membership, CISA and CISM Marketing Assistance Program • 28 November 2008—Reimbursement forms due with appropriate support documentation for the

2008 CGEIT Marketing Assistance Program Submissions forms, reimbursement forms, ad templates, banner ads and other marketing materials are available at www.isaca.org/marketing. For more information, contact [email protected]. Dates will be updated accordingly for the 2010 program. Login to www.isaca.org/marketing for details.

CHAPTER INCENTIVE PROGRAMS Career Centre The chapter incentive program for the ISACA Career Centre is designed to enhance the services offered to constituents and to provide financial benefit to chapters for their Career Centre marketing efforts. With this program, ISACA pays the chapter a commission on net sales for jobs posted by companies that the chapter referred to the ISACA Career Centre. Specific codes have been created for the chapter to provide to employers and recruiters interested in posting jobs. The employer/recruiter enters the chapter’s code in the online form when posting a position. This code provides the employer/recruiter with a 10 percent discount off the full price of the job posting fee. Full price fees are US $295 for a 30-day posting and US $395 for a 60-day posting. The chapter codes enable ISACA to attribute sales to the correct chapter. ISACA pays the chapter a 10 percent commission on net sales (after discounts and credit card fees paid by ISACA) for the job postings that are linked to the chapter by the chapter codes. The commissions will be credited to the chapter in the month after the job posts and will appear on the chapter’s remittance statement. All job posting transactions must be done online via credit card payment. Chapter codes must be entered at the time of payment for the chapter to receive the commission and the employer/recruiter to receive the discount. ISACA hopes chapters will find this program to be beneficial in bringing job opportunities from the local area to the ISACA Career Centre. Should chapters have any questions regarding this initiative or the ISACA Career Centre in general, please do not hesitate to contact Summer Cole at [email protected] or +1.847.660.5595. Online CISA Review Course In an effort to involve ISACA chapters in the promotion of ISACA’s CISA® Online Review Course and to share in its success, a chapter incentive program is being offered. This incentive program is intended to reward the chapter member or prospect who purchases the course as well as the chapter. Each ISACA chapter was issued a specific code to provide to members and others when promoting the course. Your chapter’s CISA Online Review Course code is: ISACAXXX, where XXX equals your three-digit chapter number. For example, the Utah Chapter code would be ISACA004, the Malaysia Chapter code would be ISACA093 and the code for the Lahore Chapter would be ISACA196. Please reference the membership application (www.isaca.org/join) if you do not know your chapter number. This code can be posted to your chapter web site, provided in your chapter newsletter and/or presented at chapter meetings and events. When a course participant uses your chapter-specific code at the time of payment, they will earn an additional 30 days on their course subscription length and your chapter will

Chapter Career Centre codes follow the below model*: 001CC30 (for a 30-day job posting referred by chapter 001, the Los Angeles Chapter) 001CC60 (for a 60-day job posting referred by chapter 001, the Los Angeles Chapter) 002CC30 (for a 30-day job posting referred by chapter 002, the Chicago Chapter) 002CC60 (for a 60-day job posting referred by chapter 002, the Chicago Chapter) * The chapter’s three-digit chapter number may be found on the membership application (www.isaca.org/join) or by contacting [email protected].

SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR CHAPTERS IN NEED The ISACA international Membership Board created a support program with the goal of stimulating positive activity in the chapters most in need and helping them to achieve some financial stability. This program is designed specifically for small and newer chapters that may be struggling financially. Support is in the form of a monetary funding. Interested chapters submit an application (available at www.isaca.org/chapadmin) and the required supporting documents to ISACA International Headquarters. Program Details Eligibility To be eligible to apply for this program, a chapter must demonstrate need in the following ways: • Must be a small (<100 members) or new (<12 months since formation) chapter • Must meet minimum performance standards for an ISACA chapter • Provide:

- Most recent annual chapter budget - Financial statements from past two to three years (not required for new chapters) - Minutes from board meetings (dating back 12 months) - Most recent Chapter Annual Report (on file with ISACA International Headquarters) - Either tax records (for US chapters) or bank statement (non-US chapters) - Completed application form (can be downloaded from the chapter leader area,

www.isaca.org/chapadmin, of the ISACA web site)

Funding The maximum amount of funding for any one chapter is US $3,000 in a single year. Upon approval, funds will be distributed to a chapter via its regular monthly remittance or chapter credit. Therefore, it will appear in the regular monthly reports and online as a payment to the chapter. Process and Deadline Chapters need to submit the above items to ISACA International Headquarters to the attention of the ISACA Membership Board ([email protected] or fax to +1.847.253.1652). The Membership Board will review all applications for approval and determine the amount, if any, that will be awarded. Chapters will receive notification if they have been approved for funding, typically after two or three months. Funds approved for chapters will be included with their regular monthly remittance following approval. Additional Requirements Any chapter receiving funding agrees to submit follow-up communication within six months following receipt of monies. This communication must detail how the funds were used, including the short- and long-term benefits to the chapter. Restrictions Chapters will not receive funding for more than two consecutive years. Follow-up communication is a requirement for a chapter to participate in the program in a future year. Applications received will be considered as funding allows. Should you have any questions about this program, please feel free to contact [email protected]..

TRANSLATION POLICY

The ISACA Board of Directors and ITGI Board of Trustees approved a translation policy and pilot program to test the results of additional future investments in translations. Three types of content were identified. The following sections include is a detailed outline of the translation policy and a description of the business case that should be submitted with any requests. (Electronic versions of both documents can be found on the chapter leader area of the ISACA web site, www.isaca.org/chapadmin.) If you have any questions about this program, please contact Joann Skiba, ISACA’s director of intellectual property, at [email protected]. Summary The ISACA Board of Directors and ITGI Board of Trustees have approved a translation policy and a pilot program to test the results of additional investment in translations. Three types of content were identified: • Tier 1—Core, fundamental knowledge that is critical for credentialing or that serves as a contribution

to the profession in support of ISACA/ITGI strategy. Examples include COBIT, Val IT and the certification exams.

• Tier 2—Value-adding techniques/guidance and publications, training and educational materials. Examples include IT Assurance Guide, COBIT® Security Baseline and CISA/CISM review courses.

• Tier 3—Communications and general marketing pieces, and products that support awareness of core knowledge. Examples include marketing materials, COBIT case studies and Board Briefing on IT Governance, 2nd Edition.

The pilot program will be a three-year application of the translation policy, which calls for ISACA International Headquarters to arrange for translation of all Tier 1 material into Spanish, Korean and Japanese, as determined by the association’s Global Services Review. The pilot program began in June 2008. The results will be evaluated annually and at the end of the three-year period. Specific measures relating to membership and certification growth and retention have been identified as the indicators of program success. In addition to the pilot program, translations created by chapters or third parties may be funded upon presentation of a business case to ISACA International Headquarters. All translations will be subject to review by selected members fluent in the language, to ensure that the terminology used is appropriate. Selection of languages for Tier 1 and Tier 2 materials will be based on the number of current members, the number of certified individuals served and the potential for growth represented by the language. Items should be translated in one of three ways: 1. By a commercial translation company 2. By an individual third-party translator 3. By the chapter or chapters working jointly If translations are created by a commercial translation company or an individual third-party translator, then three bids must be obtained. Translation Approval Process Before a Tier 1 or Tier 2 translation can be created, a business case must be submitted to ISACA International Headquarters for approval. The business case must: 1. Explain how the translation supports the strategy of the association 2. Establish local demand for the materials in the requested language 3. Address the availability of adequate resources, within the chapter and/or outsourced 4. Identify costs, financial viability and sustainability over time 5. Assess costs vs. benefits of the translation Chapters and third parties must submit the business case using the business case proposal to Joann Skiba, director intellectual property, at [email protected].

Translation Assistance Program Translations may be funded by individual chapters, through third-party sponsors and/or with assistance through ISACA International Headquarters. The translation policy allows for funding to help chapters offset the costs of creating translations. To qualify for the funds, a chapter must submit a business case proposal and receive approval for the translation. Funds will be awarded based on the strategic criticality and length and complexity of the publication proposed for translation. To qualify for funding in 2009, business case proposals must be submitted by 30 September 2008. Chapters will be notified of approval of translations and any funding by 31 October 2008. Translation Agreements All translations of ISACA/ITGI’s intellectual property (IP) require the execution of a written translation agreement prior to the start of a translation project. Translation agreements will be prepared by ISACA International Headquarters for all translation projects undertaken. Sales and Royalties Sales of Translations Translations funded and created by ISACA International Headquarters will be sold or distributed through the ISACA Bookstore and/or made available as an electronic download from the ISACA and/or ITGI web sites. Translations funded and created by chapters can be sold by chapters locally. They can also be sold by ISACA through the ISACA Bookstore and/or can be made available as an electronic download from the ISACA and ITGI web sites. The chapter may not charge less for translated publications than the English language version of the same publication. NOTE: All review manuals will only be sold through the ISACA Bookstore. Royalties • If ISACA/ITGI fully funds a translation and it is sold by the chapter(s) at the local level, the chapter

shall pay International Headquarters a 15 percent royalty. • If a chapter funds a translation and it is sold through the ISACA Bookstore, International Headquarters

shall pay the chapter(s) a 15 percent royalty. The chapter shall supply ISACA International Headquarters with 10 printed of the translated publication. Any orders for a quantity of 10 or more will be forwarded to the chapter for fulfillment.

CHAPTER AND MEMBER RECOGNITION

ISACA maintains an extensive list of chapter and individual awards. The following pages include information on awards available to local chapters, the process for eligibility and the criteria established for selection of recipients. Brief descriptions of the awards presented to individuals are also included, so any inquiries directed to chapter officers can be easily answered. Chapter Awards Membership Retention Awards Two awards are granted based on the prior year’s retention rates: one for highest retention rate and one for the greatest increase in retention rate. Each winning chapter will receive a US $200 ISACA Bookstore certificate. To qualify, chapters must have been in existence for the entire year under consideration and have a minimum of 30 members in both years under consideration. Awards are presented at area leadership conferences. Membership Growth Award Two awards are given: one for greatest percentage growth of membership and one for greatest numeric growth in membership. To qualify, chapters must have been in existence for the entire year under consideration and have a minimum of 30 members in both years under consideration. Awards are presented at area leadership conferences. K. Wayne Snipes Chapter Recognition Award The K. Wayne Snipes Award was established in 1989 to recognize chapters that demonstrate excellence in service to their members and their communities. Performance is assessed on several criteria, including membership growth; educational events; member communication; promotion of the CISA, CISM and CGEIT designations; involvement with ISACA; and involvement with other professional organizations. The time period of assessment is 1 July through 30 June. This time frame reflects the administrative year and/or fiscal year of the vast majority of ISACA’s chapters. This makes it possible, in most cases, for only one president to complete the form, and minimizes the need for two presidents to reconstruct the activity of two administrative years.

The Membership Board reviews the chapter annual reports and recommends one winner for each of the current chapter size categories in each geographic area (for a total of up to 20 annual winners). Of the initial (20) winners, up to four chapters worldwide (one per chapter size) are selected as the best worldwide. These four winners are awarded a free conference registration.

The free conference registration applies to either the International Conference or the local area CACS conference. Awards are presented at each geographic-area Leadership Conference. Certificates for conference attendance may not be carried over to another year; the year in which the certificate can be used will appear on the certificate. (Extenuating circumstances may be taken into consideration.) The Chapter Annual Report, Chapter Balanced Scorecard rating grid and audit/verification letter must all be submitted for a chapter to be eligible to receive the K. Wayne Snipes Award. Chapter Newsletter Award One newsletter award per chapter size category is awarded annually and presented at the respective area Leadership Conference. Recipients are chosen by the Membership Board. The Chapter Annual Report, Chapter Balanced Scorecard rating grid and audit/verification letter must all be submitted for a chapter to be eligible to receive this award. Chapter Web Site Award The Membership Board reviews all chapter web sites that are currently linked from the ISACA web site. Chapters need not submit any documentation to enter the contest. Chapters may be recognized as a gold-, silver- or bronze-level winner and are awarded a certificate of recognition. Furthermore, gold-level winners are awarded an electronic seal that can be posted on the chapter’s award-winning web site. Because there is no specific form to complete for this award, further details on the judging criteria are included following the awards descriptions on the chapter leader area of the ISACA web site. The Chapter Annual Report, Chapter Balanced Scorecard rating grid and audit/verification letter must all be submitted for a chapter to be eligible to receive this award.

CISM Growth Award Established in 2004, this award is presented by the ISACA Membership Board to the chapter in each size category that most significantly increases the number of CISMs in the chapter from the previous year. The award is based on growth between 1 December and 30 November. The Pinnacle Award This award was established in 1996 to recognize significant support of ITGI by an ISACA chapter. The support of ITGI is not limited to monetary support, as it can also take the form of leadership, participation in review teams, and providing assistance toward furthering the awareness of the purpose and goals of ITGI to ISACA members. President’s Cup Award Established in 1992, this award is designed to encourage chapters to participate in the association’s International Conference. The award is presented annually to the chapter earning the greatest number of participation points at the International Conference. All chapters are eligible, except the partnering chapter of the International Conference that year. Points are awarded to each chapter for paid attendees from the chapter, based on the chapter size classifications, as follows: • Very large chapter—1 point per paid attendee • Large chapter—2 points per paid attendee • Medium chapter—3 points per paid attendee • Small chapter—4 points per paid attendee After determining the number of participation points earned, based on attendance, a continental factor of 1.5 is applied for all chapters from continents outside the hosting continent. For instance, when the conference is held in London, the factor applies to all chapters outside Europe. The continental factor gives those chapters whose members have traveled a longer distance a bonus. Chapter Anniversary Awards Plaques are provided to recognize a chapter’s 10th, 25th and 50th anniversaries. Certificates are provided to recognize all other five-year incremental anniversaries. These awards are sent to chapters automatically from ISACA International Headquarters to the current chapter president. If the chapter is hosting a special anniversary celebration and is in need of this award by a particular date, please contact the membership department. For all chapter awards, chapter size categories are currently defined as follows (subject to change without notice):

Small chapter 12-100 members Medium chapter 101-300 members Large chapter 301-800 members Very large chapter 801+ members
