Presidents Message Hard to believe spring is almost here but so far this winter has been
nothing to complain about. I can’t remember a February so mild let’s just hope we
don’t have to pay for this later.
Our 4th Quarter membership meeting/Christmas dinner was held December
3, in Pilot Grove. There was a good turnout for the dinner, membership meeting,
and planning meeting for the 2018 Winter Convention. There was an update given
on our 2016-2017 FFA project tractor, a Farmall Super C, with Richland, MO
FFA is restoring. The project is moving along nicely.
Officer elections were held at the directors meeting and the Chapter 1
board will remain the same for the 2017 year. I would like to take this time and
thank Ron Gann and Paul Cummings for their years of service to the board.
The location for the 2nd quarter meeting and dinner was decided on at Pilot
Grove also, it will be held July 9th at Leon & Lou Walker’s in Jasper, MO.
Our next membership meeting will be held March 11th in Conway, MO at
Rocking Chair Restaurant, we will eat at 12pm and meeting at 1pm with the
annual auction to follow the meeting. Please be sure to RSVP to James Mitschele
(573)765-4530 or myself (660)346-0319 more info and directions further down in
the newsletter.
Hope to see everyone the 11th in Conway!!

As many of you know the club donated a $1,000 to the Richard FFA for the
restoration of a Farmall tractor. If you have Facebook, you can follow with their Tuesday
update of the restoration that the students are doing. They are doing an excellent job in
restoring this tractor. I thought for those members who do not have Facebook I would
share some of the pictures and the progress of the students.

This project started with Treasurer Randy Weiss and Secretary James Mitschele
presenting Advisor with a check for $1,000.00 The students have removed every part of
the tractor cleaning, sandblasting, prime, and painting. They have started to reassemble

Donating Trucks to Shriners Hospital On Saturday 17 Dec, 2016 a small group of members from Missouri
Chapter 1, International Harvester Collectors Club met with representatives of the
Shriners Hospitals for Children-St Louis to donate 100 international D2 toy trucks.
The trucks were featured as the show toy for Red Power Round Up 2015 in
Sedalia, Missouri. Chapter 1 has elected to donate all of the remaining trucks to
different organizations that support children in the state of Missouri.
Several members of the club were planning to attend this event, however
icy weather prohibited all but Penni and Randy Weiss from attending. We were
fortunate to meet with Mr. Mike Heurer and Mr. Tim McCraw who provided us
with a tour of the new 90,000 Sq. Ft Hospital facility in St. Louis which opened in
April of 2015. We visited many clinics and were given a brief overview of how
the doctors provide children a second chance to enjoy life with their special
needs.
Shriners not only provide prosthetics and orthotic services they provide
instruction on how to overcome the awful disabilities faced by many children. It
was amazing to see a child with no hands tie his shoes or button his/her own shirt
as a result of the training and counseling provided by the Shriners. Shriners also
provide family members and volunteer accommodations while their patients are
undergoing treatment. The St Louis hospital sees children from all parts of the US
and neighboring countries.
It was a great feeling to know that children will have a chance to get a
brand new RPRU 2015 red or green D2 toy truck to play with upon their arrival or
departure from the hospital. Shriners accept no payment from the families of
patients, they provide all services for free.
