Proper maintenance is very important to ensure your treadmill is always in top working condition. Improper maintenance could cause damage or shorten the life of your treadmill and exceed the Limited Warranty coverage.

Inspect and tighten all parts of the treadmill regular.ly Replace any worn parts immediately.

CLEANINGThe Trojan Ignite 370 Treadmill can be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents on plastic parts. Please wipe your perspiration off the Trojan Ignite 370 Treadmill after each use. Be careful not to get excessive moisture on the computer display panel as this might cause an electrical hazard or electronics to fail.

Please keep the Trojan Ignite 370 Treadmill, especially the computer console, out of direct sunlight to prevent screen damage. Please inspect all assembly bolts and pedals on the machine for proper tightness before use. Routine cleaning of your treadmill will extend the product’s life.

STORAGEStore the Trojan Ignite 370 Treadmill in a clean and dry environment away from children.

BELT ADJUSTMENTBelt adjustment and tension performs two functions: Adjustment for tension and centering. The running Deck has been adjusted properly at the factory. However transportation, uneven flooring or other unpredicted reasons could cause the belt to shift off centre resulting in the belt rubbing with the plastic side rail or end caps and possibly cause damage. To adjust the belt back to its proper position please follow the directions below.

Your treadmill should require little maintenance other than to periodically apply lubricant. Lubricating under the running Mat will ensure superior performance and extend the treadmill’s life expectancy.

HOW TO CHECK RUNNING DECK FOR PROPER LUBRICATION• Lift one side of the running Mat and feel the top surface of the treadboard.• If the surface is slick to the touch, then no further lubrication is required.• If the surface is dry to the touch, apply one packet of lubricant or half of the bottle of lubricant.

MAINTENANCE

HOW TO APPLY LUBRICANT• Lift one side of the running mat.• Pour one half of the lubricant bottle under the centre of the running mat on the top surface of the treadboard.• Walk on the treadmill at a slow speed for 3 to 5 minutes to evenly distribute lubricant.• NOTE: DO NOT over lubricate treadboard. Any excess lubricant that comes out should be wiped off.• NOTE: ONLY USE HALF THE BOTTLE OF LUBRICANT PER APPLICATION. • NOTE: If your lubricant is finished, the treadbelt can be lubricated with Dubbin.

LUBRICATION SCHEDULE• Check the treadboard lubrication during installation. If it’s necessary, lubricate the treadboard using one half of the lubricant provided, before using the treadmill for the first time.• If the treadmill is used on a regular basis, the running deck should be lubricated once a month.• If the treadmill is not used for two months or more, the treadboard must be lubricated before use.

BELT TRACKING ADJUSTMENT• If during use you notice that the running deck either shifts to the right or the left of centre, switch off the treadmill, remove the “Safety Key” and unplug the equipment from the AC power source. • If the running deck shifts left, using Allen wrench provided, turn the left rear roller adjustment clockwise no more than 1/4” of a turn (if the running belt shifts right, adjust the right rear roller).• Remove the Allen Key, insert the “Safety Key” and insert the AC power cord into the AC outlet. Turn on your treadmill and observe after running for a few minutes to see if the problem has been corrected. • This may take several adjustments, so repeat the above procedure.

FITNESS TIPS & TECHNIQUES

Trojan and the Heart and Stroke Foundation have joined forces to KEEP SOUTH AFRICA MOVING.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa encourages all South Africans to make heart-healthy choices

that include daily physical activity, exercise and a balanced diet. Use Trojan, SA’s No. 1 selling Home Fitness

brand to give you the ability to boost your fitness level and lower your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Visit www.trojanhealth.co.za for equipment choices and exercise programs, and

www.heartfoundation.co.za for information on how to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

AEROBIC EXERCISEAerobic exercise is any sustained activity that sends oxygen to your muscles via your heart and lungs. Aerobic exercise improves the fitness of your lungs and heart − your body’s most important muscle. Aerobic exercise fitness is promoted by any activity that uses your large muscles (arms, legs, or buttock, for example). Your heart beats quickly and you breathe deeply. An aerobic exercise should form part of your entire exercise routine.

WEIGHT TRAININGAlong with aerobic exercising which helps get rid of and keeps off excess fat that our bodies can store, weight training is an essential part of the exercise routine process. Weight training helps tone, build and strengthen muscle. If you are working above your target zone, you may want to do a lesser amount of reps. Always consult your physician before beginning any exercise program.

MUSCLE CHARTTROJAN IGNITE 370 TREADMILLThe exercise routine that is performed on the Trojan Ignite 370 Treadmill will develop the lower body muscle group as well as condition the circulatory system and provide a good aerobic workout. These muscle groups are highlighted on the muscle chart below.

CONDITIONING GUIDELINES

How you begin your exercise program depends on your physical condition. If you have been inactive for several years, or are severely overweight, you must start slowly and increase your time on the equipment, a few minutes per workout.

Initially, you may be able to exercise only for a few minutes in your target zone, however, your aerobic fitness will improve over the next six to eight weeks. Don’t be discouraged if it takes longer. It’s important to work at your own pace. Ultimately, you’ll be able to exercise continuously for 30 minutes. The better your aerobic fitness, the harder you will have to work to stay in your target zone. Please remember these essentials:• Have your doctor review your training and diet programs to advise you of a workout routine you should adopt. • Begin your training program slowly with realistic goals that have been set by you and your doctor. • Monitor your pulse frequently. • Establish your target heart rate based on your age and condition.

EXERCISE INTENSITY

To maximise the benefits of exercising, it is important to exercise with the proper intensity. The proper intensity level can be found by using your heart rate as a guide. For effective aerobic exercise, your heart rate should be maintained at a level between 65% and 85% of your maximum heart rate as you exercise. This is known as your target zone. You can find your target zone in the table below.

During the first few months of your exercise program, keep your heart rate near the low end of your target zone as you exercise. After a few months, your heart rate can be increased gradually until it is near the middle of your target zone as you exercise.

To measure your heart rate, stop exercising but continue moving your legs or walking around and place two fingers on your wrist. Take a six second heartbeat count and multiply the results by 10 to find your heart rate. For example, if your six second heartbeat count is 14, your heart rate is 140 beats per minute. (A six second count is used because your heart rate will drop rapidly when you stop exercising).

Adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is at the proper level.

WARM UP & COOL DOWN

SUGGESTED STRETCHESThe correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch, hold the position and never bounce.

1. Toe Touch StretchStand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible. Hold for 15 counts, and then relax. Repeat 3 times. Stretches: Hamstrings, back of knees and back.

2. Hamstring Stretch Sit with one leg extended. Bring the sole of the opposite foot toward you and rest it against the inner thigh of your extended leg. Reach toward your toes as far as possible. Hold for 15 counts, and then relax. Repeat 3 times for each leg. Stretches: Hamstrings, lower back and groin.

3. Calf/Achilles StretchWith one leg in front of the other, reach forward and place your hands against a wall. Keep your back leg straight and your back foot flat on the floor. Bend your front leg, lean forward and move your hips toward the wall. Hold for 15 counts, and then relax. Repeat 3 times for each leg. To cause further stretching of the Achilles ten-dons, bend your back leg as well. Stretches: Calves, Achilles tendons and ankles.

4. Quadriceps StretchWith one hand against a wall for balance, reach back and grasp one foot with your other hand. Bring your heel as close to your buttocks as possible. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times for each leg. Stretches: Quadriceps and hip muscles.

5. Inner Thigh Stretch Sit with the soles of your feet together and your knees outward. Pull your feet toward your groin area as far as possible. Hold for 15 counts, and then relax. Repeat 3 times.Stretches: Quadriceps and hip muscles.

WORKOUT GUIDELINESEach workout should include the following three parts:A warm-up: 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise. A proper warm-up increases your body temperature, heart rate, and circulation in preparation for exercise.Training zone exercise: 20 to 30 minutes of exercising with your heart rate in your training zone. (Note: During the first few weeks of your exercise program, do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes). Cool-down: 5 to 10 minutes of stretching. This will increase the flexibility of your muscles and will help to prevent post-exercise problems.

EXERCISE FREQUENCYTo maintain or improve your condition, plan three workouts each week, with at least one day of rest between workouts. After a few months of regular exercise, you may complete up to five workouts each week, if desired. Remember, the key to success is to make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your everyday life.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

This treadmill is designed in a way that in the event of an electrical fault, the machine will turn off automatically to prevent any injuries to the user and to prevent damage to the machine(i.e. motor).

When the treadmill behaves erratically, simply reset the treadmill by turning the power switch off, waiting for 1 minute then turning the power button back on.

If, after you have reset the treadmill, it is still not working correctly, please run the Self-Check procedure (refer to Self-Check) to distinguish what type of error problem the machine is encountering.
