People who are desperate often delve into all kinds of things in the bid to save themselves. Desperate people can easily form an ungodly and profane alliance. They can even make a deal with the devil and shun God. Desperation could span from quest for power, material

acquisition, fame, etc. Out of desperation for quick riches people cheat, lie, kill, (ritual offering) and even steal. "Desperation is the perfume of the young actor. It’s so satisfying to have gotten rid of it. If you keep smelling it, it can drive you crazy. In this business a lot of people go nuts, eccentric, even end up dead from it. Not my plan".- Uma Thurman. The Lord warns us to stay

away from love of money (1Tim.6:10, Heb13:5) king Ahaz of Judah was desperate to remain in power that he lost hope in his subjects, the prophet and also distrusted God. He formed an unholy alliance with pagan king of Assyria against the impending allied forces of Israel and

Syria. The prophet approached him and asked him to ask God for a sign as evidence of protection. He stubbornly refused thus the prophet gave him a sign of the virginal conception of

the future Messianic king of the tribe of David as promised through prophet Nathan (2Sam.7:12-16) In his blindness and desperation Ahaz failed to see "sign from God"

"Remember the marvelous works which He has done" 1Chr.16:12. That miraculous sign is the fact that an "alma" (a girl of marriageable age, a virgin) conceived and bore a child without any

normal natural relations with a man. More miraculous is the fact that the child is God. Mere mortals bearing gods. IMMANUEL -God is with us. If God is for us, who can be against us?

Rom.8:28-31 We are called to have faith in God, trust Him, obey Him, listen to Him, and aspire to be saints which is part of our Christian vocation. May the child Jesus be born again in our hearts and household in order to experience peace, joy and love that come with it. MERRY
