The Importance of Standards
Change is inevitable
oDigital Technology has completely upended traditional business models
oConsumers expect service and products to get better and cheaper
oThe building and infrastructure industry is ripe for disruptive change
Lead, follow or be crushed: change is inevitable!

Operations Director
Building Smart International
Benefits
o Save time and money
o On design
o On construction
o On operations
oMake better, more informed decisions
o Deliver better results for your customers
Motivation of IFC4precast
What drives our development…
o Precast industry needs a professional BIM integration of all systems
o Current interfaces are limited in their possibilities; e.g. no real 3D-model description, no unique Id´s for objects, etc.
o Technically the right time with IFC 4.0 ->
o possible segmentationo suitable entitieso very good documentation tools availableo etc.
oWidely supported by standardized viewers
o Very well supported by Building Smart in national and international distribution
o Strong project group with market leaders in CAD, MES and precast customer
7
Objectives of the project group
Bring BIM idea stronger into the precast area
CAD and PPS-Systems are even more closely linked to production
Exchange over the international standard IFC, the precast industry is raising a higher, more
professional level in the area of the data exchange model
Clear traceability over the building model and the building cycle
use IFC added value compared to existing interfaces
Creation of a universal basis for process optimization
and information distribution in the precast area
8
Objectives of the project group
BIM Collab Format is also designed to enable bidirectional communication among all BIM Precast-Systems (CAD, MES, ERP)
Small project core group, which enables an agile development of the interface
Low project management costs
• No additional project manager / assistant
• Chairmanship changes among the project participants and includes the management of protocols and hosting of the worksshops
Professional advice and support in IFC by AEC3
Creation of a universal basis for process optimization
and information distribution in the precast area
