• Youth project Siyakathala – home-based teaching due to individual circumstances of children

KWAZAKHELE HIGH SCHOOL

• Adopted the school with the intention of improving conditions in all aspects

• Employed a Mentor & a Science teacher

• Commitment to upgrading grounds, in order to make them self-sustaining and for the use of the entire community

• A school in excess of 1100 learners from disadvantaged areas

Just Inspired• An initiative in conjunction with

Canadian singer Justin Hines, the aim of which is to give 20 schools a mini-makeover to improve their conditions in the schools

• 2011- contributed R20 000 worth of outdoor/indoor activities to provide stimulation and co-ordinination skills to the 20 schools

HOMELESS IN THE PARK

• Feeding of the homeless in Joubert Park & surrounds and the East Rand. Food parcels made up and handed out

PENTECOSTAL MISSION CHURCH

• Soup Kitchen feeding underprivileged in the Timothy Valley area

THE SANCTUARY

• Catering for pensioners who are unable to sustain themselves. Opened a charity shop to generate funds for their home as well as provide pensioners with opportunities to make items for the shop

CUYLERHOLME CENTRAL

• Home for the aged feeding 60 residents plus community daily. The only facility in the NMMM providing accomodation to pensioners with special needs.

• A home accommodating 43 people with physical disabilities

• 2011 – repaired their water tank, 2 stoves, 2 freezers (including services) and baymarie – R25 000

SHEPHERD'S FIELD ALCOHOL & SUBSTANCE ABUSE FACILITY

• An in-patient treatment facility for alcohol & substance abuse. Provides rehabilitation, awareness, prevention programmes

• 2011 – purchased food for Christmas lunch for 70 including children from Mordecai Children's Home – R5 000

HOPE COMMUNITY CLINIC• A clinic in Cleary Park, providing

healthcare and social welfare to poor with emphasis on children, elderly and the terminally ill

• 2011 – purchased medical equipment to the value of R16 000 and contributed R15 000 towards new premises for the clinic

• A school in Motherwell with 125 Gr R learners from disadvantaged areas where children required chairs on which to sit during school hours

EP CHILD & YOUTH CARE CENTRE

• A children's home, raising 104 children between the ages of 6 and 18 years of age

• Required assistance with takkies for sport activities

• 2011 – Schaeffler purchased 104 pairs of takkies and various toiletries for the children – valued at R10 000

Lingelabantu Day Care & Stimulation Centre

• A day care providing for 30 children with disabilities between the ages of 1 and 7 years

• 2011 – purchased car chairs, feeding chairs, toys, towels, feeding bowls, blankets, baby baths, nappies & lotion to the value of R12 000.00

HOPE CLINIC FLOOD DISASTER MANAGEMENT

• Hope Clinic in Cleary Park took it upon themselves to collect and distribute items for thousands of homeless flood victims on the 9th of June 2011

• 2011 – Schaeffler were able to purchase 161 blankets and food items to the value of R10 000 to assist the community

KK NCWANA SCHOOL• A primary school in Kwazakhele with a

desperate need for a facelist. A talented young Interior Architecture graduate, took it upon herself to revamp/facelift the school with the assistance of NMMU students as part of their social responsibility

• 2011 – Schaeffler SA contributed R10 000 toward the costs of materials for the facelist.

House of Resurrection Haven Children's Home

• Offers a home-like environment for children who are symptomatic with HIV/Aids and have been orphaned or abandoned by their families ( 37 children)

• 2011 – Donated a fridge, whirlpool tumbledrier, 2 wall panel heaters and a dvd player - R8 500

LITTLE EINSTEINS EDUCARE

• An education centre seeing to the early education and development needs of children from 6mnths to 6 yrs in the Northern areas of PE

• 2011 – Schaeffler purchased 75 cot beds for "sleep" time as well as various puzzles, colouring books, crayons and books to the value of R10 000

IN THEIR SHOES (KICK)

Charity drive to raise funds for street children. 10 participants live on the streets for 5 days to create awareness.

Monies raised went to Ithemba Lam, (a home for babies); Kamvalethu (a drop off centre in Korsten for children living on the streets) and to the Street Children's Forum

• A container situated between two informal settlements in Seaview, out of which teaching of computer literacy, internet, maths, and music is taught

• Offering of computer courses and computer literacy to after-care children and the broader community

MAYBAYIBONE STRIKERS

• A football club in the Walmer Township consisting of four teams, who are actibe in the PEFA League required kit

• 2011 – Schaeffler purchased kits, balls, cones, gloves and first aid kits – R10 000

TOY RUN 2011

• A fundraising event held each year for underprivileged children within the PE area. Children's homes are selected and presents are bought for the children and handed out at their Christmas party with a meal and games

REITUMETSE PRIMARY SCHOOL

• A school in Orange Farm, Jhb South, educating 420 children. Rely on government funding and have many needs

• 2011 – Schaeffler purchased 60 chairs and 30 double school desks as well as a 5 burner gas stove to provide a meal to the children – R32 500

RIVER OF GLORY MINISTRIES

• Feast of Tabernacle Outreach to bless needy children, widows and the Protea Home for the Aged.

• 2011 – Purchased gifts and Christmas packs for 150 children and elderly – R5 000

NMB ACADEMY SOCCER TEAM

• Agreement between East Cape Academy & SAFA NMB for a team to play in 2011 PEEFA league – total 22 playing 32 matches.

• 2011 – purchased 22 jerseys, shirts, hose, tracksuits, golf shirts and 50% of transports costs for the season – R80 000

UMTHA WETHEMBA DAY CARE

• A day care in the Walmer Township with 40 children where roof is unstable and roof sheets are missing.

• 2011 – purchased roof sheeting and trusses to repair roof – R14 000

RIPPLE PROJECT – GLOVEBOX EDUCATION

• Glovebox Education, managed by Prof Hugh Glover, in conjunction with Walmer Methodist Church, launched a project aimed at adding value to mathematics learning of 30 learners from Walmer High, a township school.
