Abstract and Index and Web Discovery Services IEEE Partners

Introduction

This document is intended to provide a broad overview of partnering relationships with Abstract and Indexing Servicesand

Web Discovery Servicesfor which IEEE includes content. While this report is intended to provide readers with information on

IEEE content indexed and in what service, there are several things to keep in mind:

Services identified in this report do not cover everything in IEEEs Xplore Digital Library either because IEEE has not

opened all content to these services, or content available was not selected by a partner;Some services require evaluation and selection with titles added to and deleted regularly in order to maintain

relevance to the products in which they may be covered. And while IEEE may provide a data feed for a particular

subscription package as noted in the tables provided, some titles may not have been chosen;

Most partners update their products at varying intervals and many Abstract and Indexing Services do not update

harvested metadata beyond the initial load;

As a result, and given that these services and our agreements with these partners can and do change, readers of this report are

Abstract & Indexing Services

Abstract and indexing Services provide searchable database products, which enable users to search for and find relevant

information including peer-reviewed journals, books, reports, and other types of content. Unlike Web Scale Discovery Services,

these on-line products harvest metadata including abstracts from publishers and other partner-types into large repositories or

indexes. Search results often include abstracts or a brief summary of a research article that is used to assist the user to quickly

ascertain the relevance on the returned query. Most of these products enable users the opportunity to view or purchase the

full-text article at the publishers website using link resolvers. Abstract and indexing services can include a wide breadth of

information or can specialize in specific subject areas such as biosciences or humanities.
