Abstract—As we known, many successful architectural modeling designs are harmonious with their environment. So, any form of construction should be coordinated with the surrounding environment during design. This paper discusses the relationship among the architecture, surrounding natural environment, surrounding architectural style and local history and culture, and how to make construction coordinated with their surrounding environment.

Keywords- Architectural Modeling Design; Surrounding Environment; Harmony; Integrity

I. INTRODUCTION The designs of construction are closely related to

surrounding environment. The modeling design of general buildings should combine the style with the shape of surrounding buildings, as well as surrounding economic development, make an appropriate response to the surrounding buildings’ content, form, combination by modeling techniques. And then, they may be a harmonious integrity.

II. ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ARCHITECTURAL MODELING DESIGN AND THE SURROUNDING

ENVIRONMENT

A. Architecture and nature environment Construction should be in harmony with the surrounding

environment, not unexpected, not in isolation, which is interpreted by the Falling-water designed by Modern Architecture and Design Master Fei Frank ⋅ Wright. The building’s main part mainly key with white concrete and maroon stone, all the pillars are rugged rocks, the main rooms, terraces, balconies intertwined together, blending with the surrounding natural scenery. The modeling design looks natural, casual, stretch. The whole building seemed to grow in the cliff of Pennsylvania, interacting with the surrounding environment produce a harmony with the natural.(Figure 1)[1]

B. Architecture and surrounding buildings Architecture is a product of the region, so it should fully

respect the local culture of human and history. A city's culture is not only its soul, but also its core competitiveness, and also is where the city’s personality and taste, and, Su Zhou Museum are good example. The Classical Gardens of Su Zhou are not only groups of buildings, but also have a kind of life and cultural background, expressing the subtle beauty of the East Building. Similarly, Su Zhou Museum used a low-key way to show their beauty. The design of placing the museum in the courtyard combines the traditional architectural style of Su Zhou, so that the building is harmony with the surrounding environment and becomes an extension of the architectural style of north Humble Administrator's Garden. The walls and external walls of the museum are used pure white as the main tone, and gray lines are used in the space twist to outline the shape. The match of dark gray roof and white walls produce the unique beauty of verdant tile and white wall in South of the LowerYangtze.(Figure 2)[3]

C. Architecture out of surrounding environment If the building is not harmonious with its surrounding

environment, no matter how perfect the design is, it can not be called successful. Contrarily, they will make people feel isolated and neither fish nor fowl. For example, the National Grand Theater in Beijing, such an avant-garde construction, seems so out of tune when it appears in the Forbidden City, Zhongnanhai, and other Chinese classical architectures. Their large body mass and height not only steal the show and also squeeze the classical buildings with the Tiananmen Square as the axis, which make the building itself seem strange and destroy the original charm of the buildings surrounding. Figure 3. Beijing Opera House

The glass pyramid in front of the Louvre palace is also in the same situation like the National Grand Theater in Beijing. The material and shape of the glass pyramid are not in harmony with the Louvre; moreover, the glass pyramid will show a larger body under perspective in the normal line of sight and destruct the original architectural style. The Louvre itself has a very high artistic value, and the expansion project is only for the reunification of import and export and increases the lack of floor space, not to make up for any shortcomings or publicizes the designer's personality, so the pyramid before the Louvre can be said to fight a perfect battle in a wrong place. The Louvre can better reflect its charm on the warm right bank

of Paris, if it could complete to express his story 500 years ago on the right bank of the warm, and not envy vogue. (Figure 4)

III. CONCLUSION Architecture is the combination of art and technology, and

also is the product of the region. Building is closely related to the surrounding environment which not only includes the climate, topography, surrounding buildings, but also contains urban cultural and historical environment. Building design should respect the local cultural environment and the original history culture, not pursue peculiar to modeling and visual impact. If the building is not harmonious with its surrounding environment, no matter how perfect the design is, it can not be called successful. Contrarily, they will make people feel isolated and neither fish nor fowl.
