    BS Industrial Engineering, Batch 2008

Magna Cum Laude; CIEM Director for Academic Reviews

    Company: Seven-Seven Global Services Inc.

    Industry: Information Technology

    Position: Mainframe Developer Trainee

    IE EDUCATION CAREER

System perspective or system thinking (the ability to approach the problem by not just focusing

    only on a particular part such as processing or coding but to look it on the entire system);

analytical thinking (taking courses such as statistics and operations research allows me to solve

    quantitative problem easier).

    MOST HELPFUL IE SUBJECT

IE 154 and IE 156 (Information System) and IE 33 and some statistics like IE 27. IE 154 and IE

156 are information system subjects; these courses taught us on how to develop system software

or databases. This is similar to my work which is designing a program that will generate reports

especially the use of SDLC (System Development Life Cycle). In comparison with IE 154 and

IE 156, designing databases necessitates knowing the information first, same to my work, we

have to know what information or data are needed by the users of the program, then testing and

implementation. A little bit of IE 33 (Systems and Procedure) is also useful. We use flowcharting

and aside from that we also need to understand the business processes and procedures of the

clients. We also use the structured chart included in IE 154 as a tool and the waterfall method of

    SDLC.

    LEARNING EXPERIENCE

The company I am a part of is a software development company. They hire Computer Science

graduates for all except the mainframe developer in which they hire IEs because they said that

there is system design parts before programming.ADICE

    ADVICE

Try to learn and get expertise on the subjects in which your dream job are related

because, promise, you can use it after college. For example if you want to be a

production planner, try to learn more in IE 151 and IE 142 through the projects.
