The Geospatial-Intelligence Access and Information Sharing (GEOAxIS/Gx) is the National

Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA)’s Identity, Credential and Access Management (ICAM)

program of record.

What is GEOAxIS?

Gx enables online, on-demand access to NGA Geospatial

Intelligence (GEOINT) content, services, expertise and support,

based upon the user’s known identity and the user’s authoritative

attributes/roles.

ID.me is an identity platform that provides identity proofing, authentication, and affiliation verification.

ID.me allows developers on contract that do not have a CAC (Common Access Card) to access specific

Gx-protected applications.

ID.me account creation is linked through GEOAxIS.

ID.me complies with various information security regulations (i.e., SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP) and

NIST 800 guidelines.

ID.me supports up to FICAM (Federal Government's implementation of Identity, Credential, and Access

Management) Level of Assurance (LOA) 3.

NOTE: ID.me secures GEOAxIS accounts using multi-factor authentication (MFA).

To create an ID.me account, be prepared to provide personal information so your identity can

be verified. The following should readily accessible prior to starting the account creation

process:

Computer and/or Mobile Phone with Camera and

Internet Access:

− The mobile phone must be in requestor’s name

− The mobile phone cannot be a Pay-as-you-go,

prepaid, or virtual phone (i.e., Google Voice or

Skype)

Access to the GEOAxIS Portal:

− https://portal.geoaxis.gs.mil

Email Address

Your Social Security Number (SSN)To learn why ID.me requires an SSN, click here.

A Valid Photo ID:

− Driver’s License

− Passport

− Passport Card

− State ID

Or

Knowledge of Credit History− You may be asked about your credit history (i.e., mortgage,

car loan, etc.)

Complete the steps in the following slides to create an ID.me account through GEOAxIS

1. Navigate to the following GEOAxIS Portal: https://portal.geoaxis.gs.mil

2. Select ID.me.

3. Read the “DoD Information Systems User Agreement”

and then select I Consent.

4. Select the Or create an ID.me account link.

5. Enter your Email Address.

6. Enter a Password (twice to confirm).

7. Check the box to accept the Terms of Service and

Privacy Policy.

8. Select Create an ID.me account. ID.me sends a

confirmation email to the provided email address.

9. Go to your email and locate the confirmation email

(subject: “Welcome to ID.me").

10. To complete confirmation process, do one of the

following:

− Select Confirm your email button

− Copy and paste the code in the browser, then select the

Continue button.

NOTE: The email address is used as the login name.

1. Select Text Message or Phone Call.

2. Enter your phone number, select the box for how you would like to receive the verification code on your

phone (Text me or Call me), and then select Continue.

3. A 6-digit code (either voice or text) is sent to the chosen phone number. Enter the code in the browser,

then select the Continue button.

NOTE: This entry screen is time limited to five minutes. Be sure to retrieve and enter the code as soon as

possible.

Verify Your Identity

1. From the “Verify Your Identity” page, choose one of the following

verification methods:

− Answer questions about your credit history

− Upload photos of your license or state ID

− Upload photos of your passport card

− Upload a photo of your passport

2. Continue to verify your identity by following the instructions on each

page. Be prepared to:

− Use a phone with or without a web browser

− Upload a photo of your desired ID

− Provide your SSN

3. When you have finished, be sure to review the provided information

and confirm everything is accurate.

correct application group to access any Gx-protected resource. Please contact

your application administrator to start that process.
