CAUCUS–MeeEngsofDemocratsstartatthecounty,thenthestateleveland,finally,inpresidenEalelecEonyears,thenaEonalconvenEon.PartonebeginswithDemocratsgatheringwithinacountyonMarch22,2016attheirCountyCaucustoelectdelegatestorepresentthemattheStateConvenEonbasedontheirPresidenEalpreference.APresidenEalcandidatemustgaina15%thresholdofcountycaucusaPendeestohavedelegaterepresentaEonattheStateConvenEon.

ELIGIBILITY–CaucusesandconvenEonsareregulatedbystatelawandpartyrules.AnyonemayaPendthecaucus,butonlythosewhomeettheBasicQualificaEonsmaycastvotes.

This checklist provides you with a brief summary of the Essential Steps to running to be a delegate.

✓ Meet the basic qualifications;

✓ Attend your County caucus and be elected as a delegate to your State Convention;

✓ File the appropriate Statement of Delegate Candidacy;

✓ Attend State Convention, campaign for and win election as a delegate to the National Convention.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS The Idaho Democratic Party actively encourages broad participation in the election process and in the delegate selection process. There are, however, some basic qualifications that must be met by those wishing to serve as delegates to the National Convention. All delegates must be:

✓ Be 18 years of age before November 8, 2016;

✓ Register to vote before March 22, 2016 unless they are under 18;

✓ Residents of their county;

✓ Public declaration as a Democrat and no participation in any other nomination process.
