ICT RESOURCES IN THE INTEGRATION PROJECT BUBBL.US

Bubbl.us enables students to create mind mapping and brainstorming diagrams online. Reuel and I decided that this would be an excellent ICT resource to use as it allows students to have all their research in one location, instead of trying to gather it all together at the end of the four lessons. Bubbl.us is very simple and easy to use making it an enjoyable experience for the students when they are gathering their information about Volcanoes. There are many other brainstorming and mind mapping applications on offer around the internet, however, this application was very straight forward and step-by-step which allows for their to be no confusion about what it is that the students have to complete.

SPIDERSCRIBE

Spiderscribe is similar to Bubbl.us in that is allows students to gather all their research to one area. It is a little more complex than bubbl.us, however, it allows students the opportunity to decide between which tools they are comfortable with using. Their comfort is vital when commencing research our topic, volcanoes. Spiderscribe also has the ability to input images, documents and dates, which will be useful for students so they can have an anchor to certain times in history regarding the topic.

MICROSOFT WORD

Students will be using Microsoft word in their second lesson to create newspaper articles about Volcanoes and the cause, process and effect. Students will be given a run-down on how to use Microsoft Word to create templates of Newspaper articles. Although students are already familiar with how to use Microsoft word, they may not be aware of how to move paragraphs into columns and create textboxes to center a phrase. Reuel and I though using Microsoft word would allow students to experiment further with an already known application to get a sense of the unlimited options you have when using word. Students are able to type up the information that have sourced and change it around in Microsoft to make realistic, powerful articles.

IMOVIE APPLICATION

iMovie makes it easy to browse and share the HD video you shoot on your iOS device. Turn your favourite clips into blockbuster movies or Hollywood-style trailers. And watch your mini-masterpieces anywhere with iMovie Theater. A few taps, a few swipes and youre ready for your big premiere (Apple, 2015.)

Reuel and I have chosen to incorporate the innovative application of iMovie into our lessons, as we believe that students should be able to become aware of how to use iMovie in their lessons instead of writing it down on worksheet or typing it onto a computer. iMovie will be used in our third lesson when students create documentaries about the cause, process and effect of Volcanoes. Students will become familiar with how to cut and paste clips, make title pages, add

music and voiceovers, speed clips up or down and how to add text onto a clip. This will enable students to make documentaries that are informative, factual and fresh to visually please the viewers. iMovie is being emphasised as a learning tool in this lesson as students will be given the knowledge of how to fully operate the iMovie application on an iPad.
