Imperial War Museums (IWM) exclusively partnered with PATTERNITY to launch THE FLEET OF DAZZLE, a range of monochrome dazzle products to wear and use that boldly re-imagines the iconic dazzle camouflage patterns painted to disguise and protect ships during the First World War.The resulting collection is part of a larger scale project in close collaboration with PATTERNTY + IWM including PATTERN.CONFLICT.UNITY a short fashion film conceived and produced by PATTERNITY STUDIO that uses pattern to tell the history of dazzle.

The project launched at the PATTERNITY + IWM DAZZLE SHOP at London Design Festival in September 2014 – a timely repositioning of dazzle to coincide with the First World War Centenary commemorations.

The full collection will be available from IWM London, IWM North and HMS Belfast stores along with the website – iwmshop.org.uk from Thursday 2 October 2014

CLARKSThe focus for the unisex PATTERNITY Autumn/Winter 2014 Clarks desert boot has zoomed in even closer this season – with a detailed design that invites wearers to follow the PATTERNITY mantra ‘look closer, notice more’ in order to explore the puzzling geometric print. A remix of the trademark PATTERNITY lines, triangles, circles and squares applied to each section of the shoe, the pattern is a celebration of the fundamental shapes that surround us all everywhere we go.

Encouraging a more mindful appreciation and perspective of the everyday. As the authority on pattern both on and beneath the surface we have reworked the men’s and women’s iconic Desert Boot – the bold lacquered geometric print on suede brings an exciting new dimension to Nathan Clark’s original vision.

“As with everything we do at PATTERNITY, the inspiration comes from looking to the world around us more mindfully. All of our projects aim to encourage a heightened awareness and sense of connection to our surroundings. For this first collection we looked to the fundamental building blocks of life that surround us everywhere we go – a bold rearrangement of circles, lines, triangles and squares. Our core PATTERNITY philosophy is ‘that a shared awareness of pattern can positively engage us with the world and what’s in it’ and this is at the heart of everything we do. PATTERNITY designs always have a deeper meaning beyond the

surface…”Anna Murray Co-Founder PATTERNITY.“At PATTERNITY we actively seek collaborations with iconic brands that enable us to implement our exploration and application of pattern in new ways. Our collaboration with Clarks Orginals has allowed us to apply our storytelling patterns to a traditional product, giving it a whole new dimension. We feel honoured to have been given free rein to look at the Clarks Originals brand through the ‘PATTERNITY Lens’.Grace Winteringham Co-Founder PATTERNITY

PATTERNITY has once again joined forces with Clarks Originals, this time looking at the brand’s most iconic unisex style, the desert boot, through a microscopic lens. The focus for the unisex PATTERNITY Autumn/Winter 2014 Clarks desert boot has zoomed in even closer this season – with a detailed design that invites wearers to follow the PATTERNITY mantra ‘look closer, notice more’ in order to explore the puzzling geometric print. A remix of the trademark PATTERNITY lines, triangles,

The ‘Sum Table’ is a follow up collaboration with Norfolk based traditional marquetry specialist and furniture maker Toby Winteringham. Following the Wallpaper* award winning Shift and Phase range launched in 2011.The modular and bespoke-made ‘Sum’ Table’ was the focal piece for our debut cultural biennale ‘PATTERN POWER – Superstripe’ around which multi-disciplinary round table ‘Patternitalks’ were hosted. These talks brought together some of the worlds leading specialists from the worlds of art and design through to science, health and mathematics exploring how a shared awareness and understanding of life’s patterns can

positively shape the world around us.The table aptly disects into two halves for added functionality. The bold monochrome stripes converge towards the centre of the circle representing the sum of many parts coming together – a homage to equality, ideas and the unifying nature of pattern beneath the surface. At PATTERNITY we are committed to understanding the manufacturing processes behind all our products and projects. We are proud to use the power of pattern to add meaning and value – breathing new life to into traditional crafts and heritage techniques.

Sunstripe’ is our second project in collaboration with Made By Node and the Kumbeshwar Tecnical School Nepal.Launched at the PATTERNITY Biennale ‘Pattern Power Superstripe’ in 2013 – the rug forms a salutation to the sun which plays a key part in the making process. The bold monochrome design is a nod the traditional drying technique during which the rugs are arranged in neat lines a’top the Nepalese rooftops.

‘Sunstripe’ has been made by employees of the Kumbeshwar Technical School, a founding member of Fair Trade Nepal. At PATTERNITY we are committed to understanding the manufacturing processes behind our products and projects. We were asked by the BBC to host a day of hands on pattern making for young people with learning difficulties. We focused our class on finding inspiration in even the most boring urban starting points. Together we converted this new found appreciation of the mundane into bold graphic t-shirt designs – wearing our local neighbourhood with pride.
