1. General

This section guides user through the installation and un-installation of Intouch Connection Manager

3.0 with visual aids for easier understanding.

1.1. Installing Intouch Connection Manager

a.  Launch the installer by double-clicking the .exe file that Green Packet supplied. Once the

installer is launched, you will see the following window:

b.  Click Next button and you will be directed to the following window:

c.  Read the End-User License Agreement (“EULA”). User must accept the terms of this agreement

prior continuing with the installation. If you agree, click on “I accept the agreement” radio

button follow by clicking the Next button. Then you will be prompted with the following screen:

d.  You will be prompted with where you wish to install the application. By default, Intouch

Connection Manager will be installed to “C:\Program Files\Green Packet\intouchCM”. This

path/folder will be created automatically for user. Shall user prefer to install on own specified

location, user may do so by clicking on the Browse button to select the preferred location. Click

Install button once installation folder finalized. Following are the sequence of installation

progress that user expected to see:

Note:

This installation process might take about 5 – 10 minutes depending on the computer

performance. Users do not have to worry that the installation causes the computer hangs.

Reason why the installation process took longer period is due to multiple device drivers being

included in the installer. This is to cater for customer trial/evaluation as different customers

have different devices.

e.  Once the installation completed, user will be prompted and requested for next action from

user whether to reboot the computer immediately or user to perform the reboot later. Green

Packet suggest user to select “Yes, restart the computer now” radio button and click Finish

for Intouch Connection Manager to complete the installation cycle/process.

1.2. Uninstalling Intouch Connection Manager

a.  Click on the Windows Start button, direct to “All Programs”, “intouchCM” then click on

“Uninstall intouchCM”. User will be prompted with the following window:

b.  Click on Yes button to remove entire Intouch Connection Manager and all of its components.

User will be prompted again whether to keep the settings or to remove it entirely. Keeping the

settings allowed user to restore it once the Intouch Connection Manager is being installed

again.

c.  Once selection made, the un-installation will starts. Sequence of screenshots below shows the

un-installation screen that user should expect to see:

d.  User is required to reboot the computer to complete the un-installation of Intouch Connection

manager. However user can choose to reboot computer later.

2. Getting Started

Intouch Connection Manager can be launched either navigating through the Windows Start button

(Start All Programs intouchCM intouchCM) or by clicking on the intouchCM shortcut that the

installer created for user on user’s desktop. Upon launching intouchCM, user might or might not be

prompted with the following windows:

Note:

User will only be prompted with above window if there are any conflicting applications being detected

on user computer. These conflicting application normally is a Connection Management application

that user installed or pre-installed by computer manufacturer.

User is advised to click on Solve button and let Intouch Connection Manager manages the conflicting

application. Next user will be prompted on whether to check for new version of Intouch Connection

Manager. For the purpose of trial and testing, user may click Cancel button and shall see Intouch

Connection Manager Dashboard.

2.1. IntouchCM Dashboard Overview

1.  Toggle between Default and Compact view of the dashboard.

2.  Minimize to System Tray area.

3.  Exit intouchCM.

4.  Connection indication for WiMAX, WiFi, 3G, PPPoE and LAN. In Default view, each connectionis represented by a button that user can click to view connection details.

5.  Expanding or hiding Advertisement window.

6.  Navigation to view different connection indication.

7.  Extras button provides access to more functions like SMS client and applications.

8.  Mode button provides access to different profiles and connections.

9.  Menu button provides access to different functions within intouchCM like Settings, Logs,

Skins, Language, and etc.

10.  Notification bar displaying SMS notification and others notification.

11.  Connect or Disconnection button.

2.2. Creating Connection

a.  Using intouchCM for the first time, user will be prompted with the following connection setup

wizard:

b.  Click on whichever connection type that you wish to create then click Next button. In this

example, Local Area Network is selected. User will be prompted with the following screen:

c.  Select the device for connection type that being selected on earlier screen followed by clicking

the Next button.

d.  Next user will need to enter a name for the connection that user creating. In this scenario, the

connection is named “MyLAN”. After entered the name, click Finish button to complete the

create network connection wizard.

e.  User may test the connection setup by connecting to the network. To connect to the network

configured, click on the Mode button on the intouchCM dashboard. Then navigate the mouse

to Manual. User will then able to see the name of the connection setup. Click on the

connection that being configured, in this scenario it will be MyLAN. Once clicked, intouchCM

will initiate connection to the network type. If intouchCM does not connect, user may click on

the Connect button available on the dashboard to initiate connection. Similar to a “Play”

button on a normal player.

Note:

User need to ensure whichever connection type that being utilized, the physical connection

must be available. For example, in this scenario a LAN is utilized and requires to be connected

to any Local Area Network connection with an Ethernet cable.

f.  At this point of time, only the connection being setup and the profiles remains empty. Creating

profiles and assigning connection to profiles created instruction is in section 2.3 of this

document.

g.  Additional connection can be added at user will. To add additional connection, user just have to

navigate to iCM Settings window then select Connections tab as show below. Click button

to launch the add connection wizard. Connection can be deleted and edited by click on

respective the respective button provided.

2.3. Creating Profiles

a.  Navigate to iCM Settings window and select Profiles tab as shown below:

b.  Click button (highlighted in red above) to launch add new profiles wizard. User will see the

following screen once add profiles wizard launched:

c.  User may enter the preferred Profile Name, in this example the profile is named Roaming. Click

Next button to continue with the wizard.

d.  In the following screen, user will need to select which connection to be included in the profile.

Multiple connections can be selected to be included in the profile. In this example, there is only

one connection available which is GPLAN that created earlier. Once connections selected, click

Next button to proceed.

e.  Given the capability to have multiple connections within a profile, user are required to define

how switching between connections take place. Three default switching conditions defined for

users based on Priority, Best Performance and Most Economic.

Priority - Connection switching based on priority that user defined in the profile

Best Performance - Connection switching based on connection performance. By default, the

performance sequence is LAN, WiFi, WiMAX followed by 3G.

Most Economic - Connection switching based on how expensive is the connection medium.

By default, the most economic connection is set to LAN, WiFi, WiMAX

followed by 3G.

f.  Once switching condition selected, click Finish to complete the add profile wizard.

g.  User may modify profiles setting by clicking the respective button provided. User may also

arrange the connection priority in the profile using the up and down arrow icon. User can also

change the network switching condition based on preference.

2.4. Configure Seamless Mobility

Note:

Please take note that profile is required to enable Seamless Mobility feature.

a.  Navigate to iCM Settings window and select profiles tab. Click on “Enable Seamless Mobility”

checkbox as show below. User will noticed that checking the “Enable Seamless Mobility” will

activate the Seamless Mobility Settings button. Click on the Seamless Mobility Settings button

to configure the Mobile IP Settings.

b.  Enter the Home Agent authentication information provided by Green Packet in this window. An

example as shown below. Click OK button to once information entered.

c.  User will return to the iCM Settings page. Click OK button to complete the configuration.
