To the Campus Forum:During a recent trip to the Univer-
slty or r tm . I van iroqurntlv in the Union Memorial buildine at tha. school I noticed a very novel ieature of the place, that I think could dp worked out here. In one section of the wall was a large panel in whichpostoffice boxes of the fraternities andsororities were placed. M any students were going to and coming from these boxes at all hours. Upon inguiring about the boxes I was informed that a few years ago the Union was used by the students very little. Someone suggested putting the mail boxes in the lobby, and the plan was very successful ’ The Union is now the center of all student activities, and is a gathering place for the entire student body.
I would like to suggest that a sim ilar plan be considered for Michigan State’s Union. What it has done for the University of Iowa's Union can be
| done for ours Information about the plan could probably be obtained from
P their Union.V H Donaldson. ’30.

S h r e d d e dAnother lu rn of the calendar brings us to one of the most
enjoyable times of the school year when Hom ecom ing is observed. A lum n i from one to fifty year* stand ing w ill again w alk over the scenes of their school days and meet old friends who have been scattered to the four corners of the earth, sparing only a few days at this time of the year to again return to their A lm a Mater. The State News extends a most cordial welcome to the "o ld b o y s " who w ill again his with us tomorrow.
WHO SHALL VOTE?Election of corps sponsors thl* year again emphasized the
fa llacy of a llow ing underclassmen to participate in the selection
o f these positions. In th r jun io r am i senior c Ihssos alone there are many men
who are neither personally acquainted or perhaps have never heard of the candidates in question. How can an intelligent vote be cast when such a condition exists.
In the two lower Classes the condition is much more pronounced. A conservative estimate would lie that less than one per cent of the freshm en know for whom they are voting and ess than five per cent of the sophomores are casting an intelli
gent vote.Th *‘ only solution t«* the problem is to confine the suffrage on
this question to the upperclassmen and then we w ill fall tar short of perfection in the matter. •
THE COUNCIL C0X8W ERS The In to rfra le rn ity Council w ill vote upon the proposal of
deferring fratern ity w inter term initiations until fa rm e rs ' Week and lim iting the time of duration to three days, at its meeting M onday night. At present the probable outcome is somewhat uncertain but it is believed that most f raternity representatives »re in favor of the proposed move.
The deferring of the date and the im iting of the duration of fratern ity in itiations fiit?Mboth adm irable, features. Farm ers Week, coining near the m iddle of the term us it does, presenta a time when freshmen will have become more or less settled

This is the largest number they have built per year in the three years they
