AboutMr. Kenny
“It’s all a matter of time and cost...And the wayyou plan,” Mr. Kenny stated. Mr. Kenny, from
Penang, has been in the construction industryfrom the year 2000, so that makes it about 15years. He graduated at Universiti Teknologi
Malaysia (UTM) Johor, with a Diploma in CivilEngineering and a Degree in Civil Engineering. After he got his diploma, he worked part timeas an assistant engineer. It got busier after hedecided to continue his studies in Degree. He
worked from Monday to Friday and studies onSaturday and Sunday. Basically, he had no
weekends for 5 years. 15 years ago, Mr. Kennybecame a civil engineer in Penang. He workedwith the government under the company WCT
Holdings Berhad. In this company he got towork overseas in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
His projects with this company involve inmaking Formula 1 racetrack
Mr. Kenny’s role as a civil engineer is involving intender. There are two processes in tender: the firstone is commercial and financial. His responsibilityis getting the projects and knowing where the siteoffice and workers headquarters is. The second
part is the technical part. This is where Mr. Kennyanalyze and make logistics plan, such as figuringout where to put the tower crane and how many.He began working with Crest Builder in 2013. For
these past 2 years in this company, he was involvedwith tender again.
Mr. Kenny loves to explore new things. He likes challenges. He told us that
teamwork is the most important partin his work. If there were any problemsregarding the project, they would all sit
down and discuss it together untileveryone is satisfied. He said that thework wouldn’t be as tough or stressful
if you love it. “Once you have thepassion, you don’t care.”
“CHALLENGING.Once you have thepassion, you don’t
care.”6
The AwesomeCelcom Tower
One project that Mr. Kenny is involved in is theCELCOM Tower. This particular project iscurrently ongoing and will be located in
Petaling Jaya. The CELCOM Tower has beenunder construction since the end of November2014. Upon the completion of the tower, it willbecome CELCOM’s Corporate Headquarters.
The expected completion date of constructionis around the end of August, 2016.
Taking 19 months estimatedbefore completion, the end
product of this ongoing projectwill be a 33 floor, glass exterior, futuristic like building costing a
staggering 90 million MYS. In thisproject, Mr. Kenny will be in
charge of all technical issues iffaced with any. From what Mr.
Kenny has shared with us aboutthe CELCOM Tower, everything
seems to be in order and smooth-flowing without any speedbumpsin the way of construction. Mostimportant is that nothing much
has come up to delay theconstruction process.
