The most trusted training for ICD-10 preparedness

Dear Colleagues,

As we are all well aware, we now must be fully transitioned to ICD-10 by October 2014. With this new date set in stone, your preparation and programs must be put in place now. According to CMS, it will take a year and a half to be fully transitioned. Therefore, we recommend these important steps so you can be sure you are ready when the actual implementation and code transitions begin.

With you and your organization’s needs in mind, Contexo University instructors and eLearning managers have put together a comprehensive ICD-10 training curriculum that includes hands-on education from the comfort and convenience of your own home or office. You and your staff have three months to complete a course, so you’re able to study at your own pace and review the material as many times as necessary to achieve success. As an added bonus, each course is also pre-approved for continuing education units from the AAPC and AHIMA so you can meet your certification requirements.

The ICD-10 curriculum includes three major tracks, which you can follow in order or choose courses to create a custom training program. Through the curriculum, you’ll be able to:

Assess readiness for ICD-10 A good first step in getting ready for ICD-10 is to test and review your skills, which is why we have the ICD-10 Preparation Analyzer. This tool is a quick and easy way to test your knowledge of the CM and PCS guidelines and identify knowledge gaps in your own preparation or that of your organization.

Improveanatomyandterminologyproficiency The greater specificity of ICD-10 means that you will not be able to “get by” without a thorough understanding of human anatomy and physiology. Contexo University has several courses developed to meet your needs so you are fully versed and ready for implementation.

Ensuredocumentationaccuracyandbestpractices The more specific data collected on diseases, disorders, and other conditions, thanks to the greater specificity of ICD-10 codes, will positively impact research, disease management, and other factors affecting the quality of health care. Contexo University’s ICD-10 documentation courses will ensure that you and your provider are on the same page when it comes to documentation and compliance.

Participateinspecialty-specifictraining Contexo University offers ICD-10-CM training specific to specialty practices which narrows down the information to what you must know and minimizes the stress of incorporating ICD-10 into your practice. You’ll learn how to construct codes in the new system, review important definitions and terminology and identify the most common misconceptions about ICD-10- coding and documentation among your specialty.

Hands-onICD-10practice Practice makes perfect. Get plenty of hands-on coding practice with Common Coding Scenarios: A Practicum in ICD-10-CM Coding and Documentation and with Coding from the Operative Report: A Practicum in ICD-10-PCS Coding and Documentation. These courses include dozens of scenarios and examples, and will take you step-by-step through the process of identifying and coding information contained in the medical record.

As you make your way through these necessary steps in the ICD-10 preparation process, please feel free to reach out to us at any time. We understand the impact of these changes to the healthcare system and the significance to your business practices, and want to help you ensure efficiencies and reimbursement accuracies.

Best regards,
