Guava based cropping model: Okra, cowpea, turmeric and pineapple

Mango based cropping model: Okra , cowpea, marigold, radish

Minor fruit based cropping model: marigold, cowpea, tube rose, fodder grasses (Stylosanthes)

Coconut based cropping model:Turmeric, colocasia, cowpea, elephant foot yam

Cashew nut based cropping model: Pineapple, tapioca, okra, lemon grass, congo grass

    Economic analysis

Among all combinations guava –pineapple was found most profitable with net income of (Rs

    60000/acre/ season)

Developed low cost protected cultivation technology for tomato, capsicum and

    cucumber.

Coconut based multistory cropping model was developed in which banana,

papaya, guava as secondary storey crops and turmeric, elephant foot yam, pineapple

and cowpea as ground storey crops.

  • Mitigating Drudgery & Occupational

    Health Hazards

Thirteen production systems under eight crops namely food,

cereals, vegetables, flowers, oil seeds, spices, plantations and fruits of

the operational villages were identified to characterize drudgery

Twenty-eight (28) technologies were scaled up for introduction

    among SHGs.

For combating occupational health hazards protective clothing

were developed Nutrition & Livelihood Security

    • 510 nutrition gardens developed.

    • An iron rich product developed named as lehyam to combat

anaemia, using locally available green leafy vegetables.

    • A total of 213 training conducted for livelihood security of farm

families viz., value addition of fruits & vegetables, vermi-

compost, mushroom cultivation, bee keeping, soft toy making,

    dying and printing etc.

    Nutrigrans

    Crunchy ball

    Pearl pop

    Nutri ribbon

    Kranky noodles

    Performance

Helpful in preventing and combating anaemia.

Useful in improving the health and economic status through income

    generation.

  • Technology Commercialized

'DRWA Hand-operated Maize Dehusker cum Sheller’

    Patent

    Head Load Manager

Provisional patent has been filed vide No. 2667/CHE/2014 on

30th May, 2014 for 'Device to Manage Headload' developed by

All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Home

    Science, ANGRAU, Hyderabad Centre.

  • Hanging type Grain Cleaner

    Shaking movement of sieve

    cleans the grains.

    The chaff remains in top.

    Cleaned grain in middle.

    Dust goes down.

  • Vegetable Cutter/ Harvester

    Stapler type mechanism.

One has to press the implement with thumb and fore

    finger.

By holding the vegetable in one hand, the vegetable

    can be cut.

  • Finger Guard

Used for harvesting flowers or vegetables

    like chilies.

In the conventional method of nipping

    without protective guards, skin ruptures

were observed and workers were also

    experiencing pain at the tips.

The protective guards save labor time up to

37.5% as the pace of work improved.

As a facilitating aid, it protects skin from

    ruptures and burning sensation.

  • • It reduces heart rate, energy expenditure and

drudgery of farm women from 5-10 percent.

    Saral Khurpi

    • Improves the work posture.

    • Reduces the drudgery of the women worker.

    • Light in weight, simple to operate.

    Twin Wheel Hoe Weeder

  • • Carries about 10 kg of fertilizer at a time.

    • The load on the back bone at cervical region and low

back region of women is reduced.

    Fertilizer Trolley

    • Women can strip the ground nut 100-120 kg per day.

    • Saves time ,energy, labour and drudgery while

    comparing traditional method

    • Sieve can be used to separate small seeds , stones

    and other raw materials.

    Ground Nut Strippers

  • • Frequency of postural change & angle of deviation at cervical region was reduced.

    Eared Cutter for Jowar Harvesting

    • Light in weight and simple in fabrication.

    • Dung collection is possible on uneven surfaces.

    • Dung removal underneath the animal is possible due to

    long handle of dung collector.

    . Gopal Khore

  • • Reduces stress and strain of milk women. • Helps to avoid wastage of milk. • Reduction in physiological cost of work and body discomfort ratings. • Easy to move, and simple in fabrication. • Suitable for any type of vessels, low cost.

    Revolving milking stool and stand

Trishul Weeder Light in weight and easy to operate.

Improves the work posture from sitting to standing.

The working efficiency increases as it have two blades

Protection from insects bite like snake and scorpion.

Blade has sharpness at both sides; it helps to cut the

    branches of fruit and trees.

  • • The drudgery and disorder experience by women is very

    less.

    • Women experience moderate relief in burning

experience in eyes, nose, hands and pain in hands.

    • Reduces the unhealthy impact of sound on ear drum.

    Protective kit

    • Used to cover the head region of the body up to chest while working in the fields. • Effective in various activities i.e. wheat harvesting, threshing and winnowing. • to help women to get rid off husk and dust during threshing and winnowing.

    Capron

  • Mittens for soybean harvesting

    Simple design for stitching

Useful for increasing speed of work.

Long sleeves of mittens give protection to the skin of arms

Reduces musculo- skeletal problems of workers.

Provision of sticking belt makes possible to adjust the

mitten to any size of hand and arm.

Mittens for Harvesting Okra and Brinjal

Low cost and simple design for stitching

Useful for increasing speed of work.

Long sleeves of mittens gives protection to the skin of

    arms.

Convenient sticking flip belt makes possible to adjust the

mitten to any size of hand and arm.

  • Value Chain

A value chain starts with a supply chain: the

processes and actors that take a product from its

conception to its end use or disposal.

    Stages involved in value chain

  • Successful examples of women empowerment

    through value chain

    (SEWA Gram Mahila Haat-Gujarat)

  • CIWA Study on Gender roles along the finger millet value chain

    in Koraput, Odisha
