Description of the ProgramRESFEN 2.4 is Ihe latest version of a computer program for calculating the heating and cooling energyperformance and costs of residential fenestration systems. This is a pro totype and its form and contentare currently being evaluated for possible use as pan of a window rating system being developed bythe National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC). RESFEN 2 4 calculates annual heating and coolingenergy use and cost and peak heating and cooling loads. The algorithms are based on multiple regressions that were derived from a database of DOE-2. IE building energy simulations of single- and twostory residences. Users can vary geographic location. electricity and gas cost. infiltration . HVAC. walltype and floor type. as well a window size. If-value. shading coefficient. window type. Results aregiven for two discrete sets of window orientations: north-east-south- west or no rtheast-southeastsouthwest-northwest. Incremental changes due 10 obstructions. overhangs. and interior shades can alsobe calculated
