IBM SPSS 20 Statistics for Windows Server/Client Install Sample Installation Network Authorization Code

Before You Start

Please make sure the following is available before you start the installation process.

1) The SPSS License Manager DVD and IBM SPSS Statistics 20 DVD 2) The Network Authorization Code

It is recommended that you read the Network License Administrators Guide at http://ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27021213 for full instructions. If you are upgrading the license manager from a previous version, you must first save the lservrc file.

Step 1: Install the network license manager. The CD contains the extractor for the license manager installer. First run the extractor. Then run the installer from the extracted files. After the installer has run, the authorization wizard will run so you can apply your Network Authorization Code.

Step 2: Install SPSS for Windows on your local desktop computers (clients). During the installation you will specify the computer on which the license manager is running. When an end user tries to launch SPSS for Windows, the product communicates with this license manager to get a license. If a license is available, SPSS for Windows launches.

Step One:

Install the network license manager and apply network authorization code.

Run the Sentinel License Manager extractor. Browse the SPSS License Manager DVD. Right click on Sentinel_win_8.3.0 and choose run as administrator.

2. License Agreement. Choose I accept. Click Next.

3. Install Folder. Click Next.

4. Pre-Installation Summary. Click Next.

5. Install Complete. Click Done.

Run the Sentinel License Manger Installer

1. Run Sentinel_LM_win-8.3.0.exe that was extracted (default folder is C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Concurrent Licensing Tools\9.0)

2. Click Next.

3. Choose I accept. Click Next.

4. Enter Your Name and University of Cincinnati for organization.

5. Destination Folder. Click Next.

6. Choose Complete. Click Next.

7. Read the message regarding modifying your firewall settings. Click Next.

8. Click Install.

9. Click Finish.

10. The license wizard automatically starts. Choose License mu product now. Click Next.

11. Enter your Network Authorization Code. Click Next.

12. Click Next.

13. Click Finish.

The license manager should now be running. It can be managed using Sentinel RMS Server Administration at

[All] Programs > Sentinel RMS License Manager > Sentinel RMS Server Administration

Step 2: Installing SPSS Files on local desktop computers (Clients)

You can install SPSS on end users computers using a CDROM.

1. Insert the IBM SPSS Statistics 20 DVD in to your computer. AutoPlay will ru. Choose Open folder to view files.

2. Double click setup.exe (You may need to right click on setup.exe and choose run as administrator.)

3. Click Next.

4. Choose Network license. Click Next.

5. Choose I accept. Click Next.

6. Enter your license manager name or IP address. Click Set. Click Next.

7. Optionally, choose additional help languages. Click Next.

8. Use default destination folder. Click Next.

9. Click Install.

10. Click Finish.
