Terror on the Teche 6:30 p.m. @ The Shadows
**Tickets available at the Main
Library and Shadows on the Teche
Are you frightened by things that go bump in the
night? Worry about things that make you shiver
with fright? Then you may want to skip over this
wonderful evening of Halloween scares and find something else to do. Your Iberia Parish Library
and the Shadows-on-the-Teche are excited to
announce “Terror-on-the-Teche”. Tickets are
$5 (non-refundable) and will go on sale on
Monday, October 1 and will be available at the
Main Library and the Shadows-on-the-Teche visitors’ center.
This year, “Terror-on-the-Teche” will undergo a
change. The evening will begin with family-
friendly tales performed by the master storyteller Sherry T. Broussard from Lafayette, Louisiana.
However, unlike previous years, as the time gets later and the night darker…the
stories will get scarier. Children of all ages are invited to attend, however, the faint of heart can leave at any point that they wish (the first hour will be family friendly).
Costumes are welcome, chairs, blankets and mosquito repellant are encouraged. *Incase of rain, Terror will be held at the Main Library.
This event is sponsored by The Friends of the Library, The-Shadows-on-the-Teche and your Iberia Parish Library.
Wednesday, October 3 6:30 p.m. St. Peter Library
Are you digging Archaeology Month? The Iberia Parish Library is proud to announce the arrival of Dr. David Palmer to discuss his research on the

Dr. Palmer, the Regional Archaeologist for Southwestern Louisiana at UL Lafayette, directed an investigation of 16SL9 (Swayze Lake Mound) this past
summer. Swayze Lake Mound is a small mound with associated midden (ancient trash deposits) on timber land in northeastern St. Landry Parish.

Why was the skeleton afraid to cross
the road?
How do witches keep their hair in
place while flying?
What did Dracula say when he kissed
his vampire girlfriend?
How do monsters tell their future?
What do you get when you cross a
werewolf and a vampire?
Do zombies eat popcorn with their
fingers?
Why don't skeletons ever go out on the
town?
It had no guts...
With scare spray…
Ouch...
They read their horrorscope...
A fur coat that fangs around
your neck...
No, they eat the fingers sepa-
rately...
Because they don't have any
body to go out with...

Exploring Galveztown An Eighteenth-Century Spanish Colonial Outpost
The Iberia Parish Library will be celebrating Archaeology Month with a second lecture from
Dr. Rob Mann with Louisiana State University on Wednesday, October 24 starting at 6:30 p.m.
at the Parkview Library. A short meeting of the
friends will precede the lecture. Between 2008
and 2011 Louisiana State University’s Regional
Archaeology Program and Department of Geography and Anthropology conducted archaeological investigations at the site of Galveztown, an eighteenth-century Spanish colonial outpost in present-
day Ascension Parish, Louisiana. Galveztown was the site of a Spanish military fort and a village inhabited primarily by Isleño colonists from the
Canary Islands. The site was occupied from ca. 1779-1825.
In this presentation Dr. Mann will discuss the research questions behind the
project, the fieldwork undertaken at the site, and some of their intriguing
findings to date. To register, please call the Main Library at 364.7024.
Tuesday, October 23 6:30 p.m. Main Library

flashlight for this dark feature. Please register by calling the
