CSfC Solutions That Have No Rival

    IAS

The IAS Tactical Field Office – Horizontal (TFO-H) ushers in the next generation of truly enterprise class, small form factor Half Rack Width (HRW) IP networking routers, switches, Software Definable Network Appliances ™ (SDNA™), traditional Virtual and Hyper Converged Virtual Machine Servers, and other IP networking capabilities that are on par with traditional 1U, 2U or larger rack mount IT devices/appliances traditionally found within large, stationary, limitless clean power, air conditioned IT data centers.

    Modular Design

The TFO-H consists of three major elements, the Half Rack Width appliances, the TFO-H Chassis System, and the TFO Power Panel. These elements are completely modular and can be scaled to meet the smallest or largest customer requirements.

The current family of IAS HRW appliances include:

    • SDNAs that offer greater than 10 Gigabit routing and VPN tunneling performance

    • Virtual machine server appliances that offer Intel processors ranging from 4 core/8 thread to 16 core/32 thread Intel XEON processors with up to 256GB of RAM and 16TB of native SSD Storage, and low power 8 and 16 core Intel C3000 processors with up to 128GB of RAM and 16TB of native SSD Storage

    • 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit RJ45, SFP, and SFP+ Ethernet “Top of Rack” Switches

    • Video encoders and transcoder appliances

    • Multi-input Radio over IP (RoIP) appliances

    • And many more appliances to follow…

    TFO Chassis System

The TFO-H chassis system, used to rigidly retain HRW appliances, has been designed such that it uses commercial off the shelf (COTS) industry standard IT rack mount transit cases that are readily available from many different manufactures. There is no need for expensive, fragile, proprietary transit cases.

TFO-H chassis are available in 2U and 3U heights and can be scaled to meet any number of HRW appliances requirement. For example, simply use a 2U TFO-H chassis with a second 2U TFO-H chassis for a total of 8 HRW spaces, or a 2U and a 3U for a total of 10 HRW spaces, etc.

TFO-H chassis systems and HRW appliances are also capable of being mixed and matched with traditional commercial off the shelf 1U, 2U or larger IT rack mount appliances when the application calls for it. This yields the ultimate in scalability and flexibility. Now tactical edge communications solutions can be sized “just right” for the mission and capabilities needed, not shoehorned into a proprietary transit case that only hold one vendors proprietary device form factor.

    Power and UPS

All IAS HRW appliances operate using wide range dirty DC, with inputs located on the front and back of each device. They offer built in uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) logic in support of assured uptime in dirty power environments, and many even offer small hold up battery cells that are independent, and over and above, any larger capacity batteries that can be connected externally in support of longer runtimes when Mains power is lost.

    TFO Chassis System Cont.

Half Rack Width (HRW) appliances are designed to be inserted and removed quickly and easily from the TFO-H chassis system without the use of any tools. HRW appliances are also capable of being used freestanding, outside the TFO-H chassis system, without any additional docking stations or adapters should the impromptu need to take place.

Gone are the days of proprietary tactical communications kit form factors, because anyone is able to design a hardware solution to fit the Half Rack Width form factor. For the first time, a tactical communications user will be able to mix and match tactical comms vendors’ solutions within a single chassis solution (NOTE: IAS will publish the HRW form factor specification publicly at the end of CY 2019, so that all vendors will be able to develop appliances to leverage the form factor).
