SUPPORTING AN ORGANISATIONALAPPROACH TO COACHING EXCELLENCE

The Illawarra Academy of Sport (IAS), in regional NSW, is dedicated to providing apathway to excellence for young, talented athletes. CEO John Armstrong recognisesthat helping athletes achieve their potential requires great coaches who areequipped with the mindset and tools to create great learning environments. DerekPanchuk Consulting has provided a range of innovative, evidence-basedopportunities for the IAS to enable their transformation to an organisation committedto learning and establish themselves as a leader in coach development.

INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS FOR INNOVATIVE ORGANISATIONS

COACHING COMMUNITYENGAGEMENT

IAS is committed to engaging with and

adding value to the broader coaching

community in the Illawarra Region. To

support this aim, I delivered an

introductory workshop that was open

to all coaches in the region.

SPECIALIST SWIMMINGCAMP

To support targeted growth, IAS

partnered Swimming NSW to offer

specialist camps for local athletes. I

provided on-deck coaching

evaluations and feedback, and remote

coaching support after the camp's

completion.

BREAKTHROUGH: ONLINE COACHDEVELOPMENT

To support coaches during the COVID-19

shutdown, I designed and facilitated a 5-week,

online experience to give coaches tools to

create high-quality learning environments.

94% of participants say the

course had a positive impact on

their coaching.

FACE-TO-FACE COACHINGSUPPORT

It's one thing to talk about change,

and another to do it. I provided face-

to-face coaching support, in the

coach's environment, to highlight

strengths, pinpoint opportunities for

growth, and provide the tactics and

confidence to make those changes.
