Experience the art of our featured artists that call Victoria home. Music by Leanaboo and Sean Rea and featuring performances curated by Theatre SKAM in their Pop-Up Live Threatre just outside the HQ. The Integrate Arts Festival is a completely free festival that celebrates the diverse arts community in Victoria, B.C. Centred around an en-masse art crawl, it encourages interaction with artworks and performances by local artists, as well as the exploration of local galleries, art spaces, and artist-run centres. It is organized by the Integrate Art Society, a non-profit that is run entirely by volunteers.

The 2017 Integrate Board of Directors is Brin O’Hare (President), Alanah Garcin (Vice President), and Liam Crocker (Treasurer & Secretary).

PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION (WALKING TOUR)1-2PM • Begins at Integrate HQPDA is a participant-driven performance work by featured Integrate artist Laura Gildner that will tour between selected exhibitions in the downtown core. Linking galleries together via personal connections to space, PDA will examine layered intersections between the body, identity, and art as they relate to urban geography. Participants will visit the Greater Victoria Public Library, the Atrium, Legacy Art Gallery, and Open Space.

ZINE MAKING DISCUSSION & WORKSHOP10AM-12:30PM • Greater Victoria Public LibraryJoin Open Space artist-in-residence and guests for a roundtable discussion on zine making and self-publishing. Participants will have the opportunity to generate content, create their own zines from scratch, and create copies for distribution. All are welcome to participate. Materials provided.

ARTIST TALK WITH KAI CHOUFOUR2:30-3PM • Integrate HQKai Choufour’s four-panel artwork, NEWTOPIA: Spring Fairy/ Green Future/ Pink Turtle/Magic Cat will be on display at the outdoor Commercial Alley Art Gallery until August 2018. To celebrate and launch the installation, he will present an artist talk at the Integrate HQ.

COURTNEY CHANEY: HABITAT7-9PM • Integrate HQFeatured Integrate artist Courtney Chaney will perform her work Habitat, which focuses on the relationship between human and nature by allowing the viewer to encounter an exposed vulnerability within the space as the performer embodies a fetus or seed through direct contact with composted soil. CFUV ARTSCAPE PODCAST WORKSHOP PART I12-2PM • Integrate HQJoin CFUV and Integrate in making an episode of ARTSCAPE podcast! Over two days learn how to record audio, go into the field to collect audio, and edit and produce it into a podcast episode. BIKE TOUR11AM-1PM • Begins at Coffee LabThis year’s bike tour will be activated by artist Jonathan Dowdall who will include storytelling and performance, revealing personal and historical connections to the various stops. Stops will include the fifty fifty arts collective, Xchanges, arc.hive, the Ministry of Casual Living Window, Integrate HQ, and the Greater Victoria Public Library.

DANCE WORKSHOP WITH VÉRONIQUE EMMETT11AM-12PM • Integrate HQLed by Integrate Arts featured dance artist Véronique Emmett, this drop-in workshop is an improv based contemporary class. Participants will explore various influences to provoke and inspire movement. All levels are welcome to participate.

ROMI KIM: BAD CANADIAN, BAD KOREAN7-10PM • The fifty fifty arts collectiveIn her practice, featured Integrate artist Romi Kim investigates themes of racialization, nationality, and colonialism with the use of storytelling and oftentimes with a smidge of humour. This audio-visual installation is co-presented by Integrate and the fifty fifty arts collective.

FRINGEKIDS FT. POPPET CREATIVE11AM-4PM • Market SquareThis action-packed, interactive, free event introduces kids to live performance and unleashes their creativity. Paint the giant cardboard castle, craft your own costume, and more. In a cross-festival collaboration, Integrate is also partnering with Fringe Fest and Poppet Creative to bring an interactive artmaking activity to FringeKids.

OPEN ACTIONS1-3PM • Greater Victoria Public Library, CourtyardOpen Actions is a collective of performance artists based in Victoria and dedicated to durational site-specific actions performed in public spaces. All are welcome to participate in performing.

CFUV ARTSCAPE PODCAST WORKSHOP PART II2-4PM • Integrate HQSecond day workshop participants will review the collected material and learn about editing processes and mixing recordings. At the end of this day the audio produced will be collected and used in an episode of ARTSCAPE.
