POMSnet Karl Suher, Gretchen N
Problem: -No MES system to keep track of parts throughout plant life
-No system installed to continuously monitor temperature, pressure and gas levels
Task: -Coordinate custom specs and placement of computer enclosures around carbon area for
housing the touch-screen monitors operators will use to interface with POMS
-Create metal tag bar-coding system
-Determine MOC communication strategy to appropriate stakeholders

POMSnet cont.
Actions: -Ordered, installed and coordinated implementation of metal tag printer (standard work,
work instructions, 5S, machine training, etc.)
-Assigned proper custom specs and placement for Hoffman enclosures
-MOC communication strategy template
Results: -Tag printer ready for plant use
-Hoffman enclosure placement finalized (PO placed for power/data drops)
Future Actions: -POMSnet topics need to be properly communicated to stakeholders before go-live

Gas Tunnel Map Edgar Abad
Problem: -Previously, persons would have to physically go underneath the plant floor to check gas levels
-There is only 1 HMI panel in the carbon area footprint that displays the gas levels digitally
Task: Create a gas tunnel map that can be accessed and displayed on Experion visual interface monitors
Actions: -Used Experion and Kepware (tag aggregator) to communicate with the plant PLC’s to read the methane, propane and oxygen levels
-Organized the readings into a gas tunnel map
Results: Tunnel map allows easy monitoring of gas levels ensuring early detection when the levels near their limits

Carbon Area Tier 3 Board Paul F
Problem: Carbon Area Tier 3 board currently located in old needling room which is being converted into an additional Binary/BPX room
Task: Create a new Tier 3 board
Actions: Used graphic tape (yes…21 rolls) and labels to create an updated Tier 3 board
Results: Increased organization and visual presentation

MOC List Paul F
Problem: There was no centrally located sharepoint sheet for keeping track of projects in process
Task: Create an MOC sharepoint list
Action: -Transferred previous rejected and proposed MOC’s to new sharepoint
-Created separate “views” for proposed, approved, and rejected MOC’s
-Responsible for MOC compliance auditing
Results: Sharepoint list is used at weekly MOC review meetings for increased organization and process flow

Char 5S Checklist & Inspection Criteria Karl Suher
Problem: -The current Char 5S checklist was not updated with current photos and proper instructions
-POMS char worksheets lacked specific inspection criteria for operators
Task: Update 5S checklist and outline inspection criteria in POMS worksheet
Action: Spoke with char operators to gain an accurate understanding of work area clean-up and
opinions on proper inspection
Results: Created and posted updated 5S checklist on the floor and included key inspection criteria for POMS use

General Labor Training Matrix Paul F
Problem: Union has intentions on combining all GL’s into 1 department (OT distribution)
Task: To identify area specific training needs, subtle job tasks and standard work items for all GL’s
Actions: -Held meetings with facilities maintenance and ISC supervisors
-Created skills matrix
Results: Increased understanding of the scope of responsibility and job specific needs of GL’s in separate areas
