Technical Tour. This tour, hosted by Fondazione Catella and Hines, will present the Porta Nuova district, a major construction site which is transforming a central area of Milan. The project will be presented by Michele Masnaghetti, Construction Director, Hines. The area of 290,000 m2 bridges the gap between existing rail infrastructure and hosts a mixed programme of offices, houses, shops and a large urban park. New urban spaces are defined by high-rise architectures, reconnecting parts of the city that were previously disconnected. The visit will include both the finished parts and the construction sites still operating. The visit will last around 2 hours.

PINK TOUR – TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2013 – 14:00-18:00

Splendid historic buildings and art collections between Brera District and the Quadrilatero della Moda (Milan Fashion District). A particular guided visit will take you to one of the newest museums of Milan, located in three renowned buildings in the historic city-centre, Anguissola Palace, Brentani Palace and Beltrami Palace, which house the new Piazza Scala Galleries collections of 19th and 20th centuries. The collections include significant works of art: magnificent views of ancient Milan and portraits; works by important painters as Francesco Hayez, Gerolamo Induno, Gaetano Previati, Umberto Boccioni, together with important sculptures by the great Antonio Canova from Treviso, well appreciated through Europe for his refined and elegant masterpieces. Today accessible all in the splendid historic buildings for the general public to admire: Anguissola Palace, Brentani Palace and Beltrami Palace, which alone, with their courtyards, staircases, halls decorated in frescos, deserve a visit! After the visit of the Museum, a pleasant stroll will lead us from the Quadrilatero della Moda (the most famous Fashion District) to the picturesque Brera District, where in the past the slow water of the Navigli used to flow. In one of the oldest areas of town, today so fascinating imbued with history, art and culture, you’ll be fascinated by decorated buildings of 18th and 19th century, art galleries, historic bar with outdoor tables, or in front of the shop-windows glitzy with clothes and accessories of a unique made in Italy style. In the background the skyline of Milan with the new buildings and skyscrapers of Garibaldi District. This tour is reserved to accompanying persons.

CULTURAL TOUR – THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2013 – 13:30-17:30

This is a walk from the Sforza Castle to Piazza Duomo, along Via Dante and its buildings with exquisite facades. It is worth stopping at Piazza dei Mercanti, which in medieval times was the heart of the city, where the goldsmiths had their workshops, the law was administered and the town assemblies met in the rooms of the Palazzo dei Giureconsulti and Palazzo Broletto. The large Piazza Duomo opens up just a little further ahead: the façade of the Cathedral with its soaring pinnacles and crowned by the Madonnina, the statue of the Virgin Mary, are the symbol of Milan all over the world. From the Piazza, going through Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, with its polychromatic marbles, decorated floors and the octagonal centre, we reach Piazza della Scala, with the 16th century Palazzo Marino and the very famous Theatre which gives the square its name. Its 18th century elegance is preserved in its neo-classical façade which takes us back to the glorious age of opera and famous European composers. This tour is reserved to accompanying persons.
