IAG Performance EGR Block Off Kit For 2015-16 WRX

Part# IAG-ENG-2051 Thank you for choosing IAG’s EGR Block Off Kit for the 2015+ WRX. Due to the location of this install some pictures were taken from below the car however all of the work can be done from above and does not require a lift. This install does involve manipulating hoses tied into the coolant system and some coolant maybe lost during the installation which will need to added back as well as burped if the loss was significant. This install should take place while the engine is cool to avoid burns. This product requires an engine management solution to eliminate codes generated from the removal of the EGR valve. Contents: (x2) Billet Block Off Plates (x1) EGR Cylinder Head Port Gasket (x1) 5/16” 90° Plastic Fitting (x1) ⅝” 90° Plastic Fitting Tools Required: 3/8” Ratchet Torque Wrench 3” Extension 10mm Deep Socket 12mm Deep Socket Pop Clip Pliers Hose Pinch Pliers Needle Nose Pliers Flat Blade Screw Driver or 8mm Nut Driver Mild soap / water solution


Engine Cover Removal

1. Using pop clip pliers remove the (x2) pop clips that secure the engine cover near the firewall. Remove the engine cover by lightly pulling up at the front of the cover. Once free remove the cover and sit it to the side.


Intercooler Removal

2. Using a 3/8” ratchet, 3” extension and 12mm socket remove the (x4) 12mm bolts that secure the intercooler and driver side intercooler bracket. When removing the bracket carefully pull the hose away from the pinch clip.

3. Using a flat blade screw driver or 8mm nut driver, loosen the hose clamp at the boost pipe and intercooler on the passenger side. Next loosen the hose clamp at the driver’s side throttle body to intercooler connection. Next remove the intercooler by pulling it away from the driver side throttle body hose coupler then free it from the passenger side boost pipe coupler. Be careful not to damage the fins during removal. Sit the intercooler aside.

Intake Manifold EGR Pipe Removal

4. Locate the EGR pipe attached to the back of the intake manifold at the firewall. Using a 3/8” ratchet, 3” extension and 12mm socket remove the (x4) 12mm bolts that hold the pipe to the intake manifold and EGR valve. Once the bolts are removed place the pipe aside and make sure the OEM gasket at the intake manifold is in place and able to be reused.

5. Locate large IAG EGR block off plate included with the kit. Place the plate onto the EGR port on the intake manifold and hand thread the (x2) OEM 12mm bolts into place. Torque the (x2) 12mm bolts to 14 ft/lbs.

EGR Cooler Pipe Removal

6. To minimize coolant loss, use Hose Pinch Pliers to pinch off the upper coolant hose that leads to the EGR cooler pipe on the passenger side of the vehicle. Using needle nose pliers remove the (x2) OEM pinch clamps that are located on the upper and lower EGR cooler pipe. Once the clamps are free pull the hose ends off the EGR cooler pipe.

7. Using a 3/8” ratchet, 3” extension and 10mm socket remove the (x2) 10mm nuts and (x1) 10mm bolt that holds the EGR cooler pipe to the cylinder head. Remove the cooler pipe and sit it to the side.

8. Locate the included small IAG block off plate and OEM EGR port gasket. Place the gasket onto the passenger side EGR port using the (2) studs to locate it. Finally install the Block Off Plate with the IAG logo facing towards the firewall. Reinstall the (x2) 10mm nuts and toque them to 4.7 ft/lbs.


Coolant Recirculation

The IAG EGR Block Off Kit includes a large 5/8” 90° plastic fitting that can be used to tie the (x2) EGR cooler pipe coolant hoses together (Easier Install). You also have the option to remove the lower EGR cooler coolant pipe hose altogether, not use the 5/8” 90° fitting and reroute the upper EGR cooler coolant hose to the lower port on the cylinder head. The instructions will cover both methods.

9. Insert the supplied plastic 5/8” 90° fitting into the upper EGR cooler coolant hose and then into the lower EGR cooler coolant hose.


Using needle nose pliers secure the fitting with the OEM hose clamps as shown. Remove the large hose pinch pliers at this time. This completes the “Easy Install” method. You can move to step 10 at this point.

Optional: Eliminate 5/8” 90° Fitting & Lower EGR Cooler Coolant Hose

9a. Using needle nose pliers remove the OEM pinch clamp that attaches the lower EGR cooler coolant hose to the cylinder head. Pull the hose off the port and sit it to the side.


9b. Next attach the upper EGR cooler coolant hose to lower EGR coolant hose port at the cylinder head. Using needle nose pliers secure the hose with the OEM pinch clamp as shown. Remove the large hose pinch pliers at this time. *This completes the optional method of install move to step 10.


EGR Valve Removal & 5/16” 90° Fitting Install

10. Unplug the grey electrical connector from the EGR valve. To lessen coolant loss, pinch off the small lower coolant hose that leads to the EGR valve using Hose Pinch Pliers.

11. Using needle nose pliers, remove the upper and lower pinch clamps that secure the small coolant hoses at the EGR valve.


Pull the hoses free from the EGR valve and install the included 5/16” 90° Fitting between the two hoses. Secure the fitting using the OEM pinch clamps and remove the small hose pinch pliers.


12. Using a 3/8” ratchet and 10mm socket remove the (x2) 10mm bolts that hold the EGR valve to the bracket in the engine bay. Place the EGR valve aside.


Reinstall Intercooler and Engine Cover

13. Using a mild soap / water solution spray a small amount of liquid at the boost pipe coupler and throttle body to intercooler coupler to help the intercooler slide into place. Reinstall the intercooler and using the (x4) mounting bolts that secure the intercooler and intercooler bracket to the engine. Make sure to tighten the (x2) hose clamps at the boost pipe to intercooler and Throttle body hose to intercooler connections using a flat blade screw driver or 8mm nut driver.

14. Reinstall the factory engine cover and secure it using the (x2) OEM pop clips.


Before Engine Start Up

15. Refill any lost coolant. *If a large amount of coolant was lost the system will require burping before driving the vehicle to avoid overheating.

16. At this time you must have an engine management solution that enables you to eliminate codes generated by the removal of the EGR. Please contact the manufacturer or your preferred tuner for help or assistance.
