I wish I had listened.
I sat on the ground with my back to the wall. The motel was very noisy. I could
hear crime all around me, from screaming and gunshots to cars zooming away.
What did I expect for seven euro a night?
I sat almost facing the door. I couldnt sleep. Not after what I had been
through, not after what I had seen. Theywere coming. It was a fact.
I looked over at the digital clock beside the bed. Red lit numbers told me it was
three oclock in the morning. Theywere coming it was inevitable. The darkwouldnt be able to stop them; after all, it didnt stop me.
I heard voices outside my door. I couldnt make out what they were saying; I
didnt need to. I knew it was them, and I was ready for them. I tip-toed quietly up
to the door. I slid the cover off the keyhole. I had removed the glass from it
earlier. I pulled out my gun from the inside of my unzipped black leather jacket. I
put the barrel of my gun in the keyhole. It fit perfectly, I grinned. I pulled the
trigger.
I heard a body fall to the ground. I could make out that there was three, now
two. I heard the two panic and curse. They started banging at the door. Pathetic.
They began stepping back and charging at the door. I slowly and quietly unlocked
the door. Just as one of them charged at it, I opened it. He fell to the ground and I
shot him in the back of the head. The last one was smarter though. He was
waiting for me to show myself. I decided to dash past the door, I was getting
bored. I ran to the other side of the room so fast he must have seen nothing more
than a blur. I heard a gun drop, and then he said, I just want to talk. Ok then, I
began, Leave the gun out, and come in at your own risk There was a short
silence and to my surprise, he still came in defenceless.
He was dressed in black and had dark brown hair. I kept my gun pointed at
him, Any quick moves and I swear, youre gone. I said. He nodded. I lowered my

gun and walked to where he had left his gun. I picked it up. It was exactly like
mine. I pushed the bodies into the motel room with my foot, looked around and
shut the door. I noticed a white piece of paper in the man dressed in blacks
pocket. I pulled the piece of paper from his coat pocket. The page was folded, so I
opened it. It wasnt them.
Assassins? I said, I groaned in disgust. I wish I had listened, he said,
everyone told me not to take this job, and now two of my best men are dead. I
wasnt really paying attention. I looked at the bodies and then the paper. They
didnt even employ them. Who the hell wanted me dead? Why didnt you kill
me? he said. It was a little random and very open. I had intended from the from
the start to keep one of them alive, I needed to know who their employer was
and if I could get this guy on my side; it would be even better. There was no
reason he needed to know this though. You dont need to worry about that, I
said nonchalantly, wed better be off now then.
It was six oclock in the morning when I paid the bill for the motel. I picked
the motel because there were no questions asked, and therefore I didnt stick out.
I suppose thats why so much crime happened there. I wasnt going to complain
though; business was business. The assassin dressed in black was leaning against
the wall outside. He had one foot on the wall as he leaned against the wall withhis hands stuffed in his pockets as he stared blankly at the wall. I knew he was
thinking about his dead comrades. Whats your name? I said. Whats yours? he
answered. I sighed rolling my eyes up and shook my head. This could get annoying
very easily, Thats not important. I said. I began to walk and he followed, So
then whys mine so important? he questioned. I let out another sigh in
annoyance. Because Im the one with the gun. I said taking out my gun and
waving it in the air without turning around. He sighed and then said, Tatsuya.
Once we reached my motorbike, Tatsuya didnt move. I have a car, cant
we use that?
No.
Why?

I dont like your car.
He sighed again and said again, Why didnt you kill me? If you dont value your
life, Ill kill you now. I said. He could tell I wasnt serious and stared at me. I let
out a big sigh. Once again, you dont have to worry about that. I passed a helmetto him, Just think of it as if youre special!
Why would I want the girl who killed my two friends to think Im special? he said,
Like I said, because that girl is the one with the gun.
