EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The numerous Woodcuts to the paper " Illustrations of British

Antiquities " were supplied by the Author, the Rev. Dr. Hume. The

contributed by Mr. Joseph Boult; and the plate of Specimens of the

" Land and Fresh Water Shells of Great Britain" was drawn by
