Shanghai is said to be the most Western of Chinese cities. At the same time, though, it is almost more Asian than many others in the country. It is not laid out in a chequerboard pattern like Beijing; instead it has tiny shops on twisting streets, and teems with people and mopeds like so many other cities in South-East Asia.

The traditional and the modern coexist in Shanghai like East and West.

What is I-Shanghai ?

I-Shanghai, a project on exploring Shanghai and Chinese culture, aims at promoting understanding of traditional Chinese Culture and arousing the public awareness of cultural protection.

Running FoodChinese food is famous all over the world and it boasts one of the world’s greatest cuisines. Chinese cuisine has countless delicious and fantastic dishes. In our program, we certainly prepare a food line.

Taste and experience Shanghai local food by playing a Running Food game designed by our team. Through this game, you will not only know the taste of each food, but also dig out the story deeply inside. What's more, Hotpot is one of the Chinese traditional food, we'll have a big meal together to experience the active atmosphere when Chinese people get together to celebrate something.

Costume photographyCostume piece is one of the features of Chinese media industry. You can shoot a suit of costume photography in Qibao which is a charming tourist resort. You do have a good memory there.

Traditional Chinese wedding In Chinese people's eyes, sweet marriage begins with a ceremonial ritual which is well-organized and elaborately prepared. According to traditional Chinese culture, a formal wedding ceremony includes several steps. We will let you experience each steps and through the stimulant situation to learn more about Chinese culture.

You and buddy will set up your own team, to prepare a short documentary with a plot of Old Shanghai. Through this, you will get more familiar with Shanghai culture.

Day at the MuseumEveryone is always amazed by an increasing number of cranes busy around buildings under construction in Shanghai. But beyond this huge expansion, what was really this city? Does it have a soul? This well-designed "Day at the Museum" will definitely show you.

Chinese traditional classesChina is a large country with time-honored history. From the ancient

times, the ancestors of Chinese laboured, lived, and multiplied on this

vast land and have created splendid culture. As one of the four cradles

of world's earliest civilizations, it has a recorded history of nearly

4,000 years. Throughout the history of Chinese civilization, its

agriculture and handicrafts have been renowned for their high level of

sophistication. During these 4,000 years, China has nurtured many

great thinkers, inventors, statesmen, strategists, men of letters and

artists, yielding a rich cultural heritage and fine cultural traditions.
