Miss Vazzana Is Married In Hempstead s Is the Bride of William Keller In Church Rites The wedding of Mis« Margaret Vazzana, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vazzana of Centennial ave- nue, Roosevelt, and William Keller, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William Keller of Seaman avenue, Hemp- stead, took place Sunday at 4 p. m., in the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany, Hempstead. The Rev. Walter M. Ruccius, pastor, offi- ciated. The bride, given lrPmarriage by her father, wore a gown of white silk marquisette with a square neckline and a long full skirt. The gown was trimmed with white velvet and she wore mitt* of the same material as, that of the gown. Her veil, which was knee-length and covered her face, was held in place with a tiara of lilies of the valley. She carried a mother-of- pearl prayer book with valley lily markers. Mrs. William Martin Pfeifler of Freeport, matron of honor, wore a gown of blue silk marquisette made in the same style as the bridal gown. She wore a large leghorn hat trimmed with blue velvet streamers and carried red roses, blue delphinium and gypsophila. Jesse ConHlin of Hempstead was best man and ushers were Charles Keller, brother of the bridegroom, and William Martin PfeifTer of Freeport. A reception for about 50 persons was held at the bride's home. After a trip to Chicago where Mr. and Mrs. Keller will visit Mrs. Keller's sister, Mrs. Christian Peters, the couple will live in Hempstead. Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson Celebrates Birthday Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Whaley of Fulton street, Farmingdale, were hosts at a birthday party in honor of Mrs. Whaley's mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson, who was 85 years old Sunday. The party was held in the garden of the Whaley home, with Mrs. Wilson presiding at the table upon which a huge birthday cake with 85 lighted can- dles was placed. The scale of point* consists of: conditions of lawn— 25 points; landscaping—35 point*; foundation planting—10 point*: plant material—20 points: and general appearance—10 points. Certificates of merit will be given to the winners in each class. A donation of $10 was presented to the library fund at Hofstra col- lege and a similar contribution was made to the Hempstead Elks club Christmas fund. New mem- bers enrolled at the meeting were Mrs. J. Bradley Lambert and Mrs. Joseph McKay. About 50 persons were present and refreshments were served by a committee including Mrs, Thomas M. Miss Hazel Marie Davis, daugh­ter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Robert Davis of Stuyvesant ave­nue, Merrick, and Charles Stephen Balazs, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stephen Balazs of Rose-dale, were married Sunday at f p. m., in St. John's Lutheran church. Merrick. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

The Rev. Edwin J. Grubb, pas­tor of̂ the church, officiated. The bride wore a white lace gown and long veil and carried a thower bouquet of white roses. Miss Mary Seanlon of Merrick was maid of Honor and Richard Davis of Mer­rick, the bride's cousin, was best man for Mr. Balazs.

A reception for about 50 per-aon* was held at the home of the bride's parents.

The garden department of the Maasapequa Women's club will supply hostesses, Thursday, for Gardens on Parade at the World's Fair, Mrs. Charles H. Halsey, de­partment chairman, announced today. They include:

Is Married

In Hempstead s Is the Bride of William Keller In Church Rites

The wedding of Mis« Margaret Vazzana, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vazzana of Centennial ave­nue, Roosevelt, and William Keller, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William Keller of Seaman avenue, Hemp­stead, took place Sunday at 4 p. m., in the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany, Hempstead. The Rev. Walter M. Ruccius, pastor, offi­ciated.

The bride, given lrPmarriage by her father, wore a gown of white silk marquisette with a square neckline and a long full skirt. The gown was trimmed with white velvet and she wore mitt* of the same material as, that of the gown. Her veil, which was knee-length and covered her face, was held in place with a tiara of lilies of the valley. She carried a mother-of-pearl prayer book with valley lily markers.

Mrs. William Martin Pfeifler of Freeport, matron of honor, wore a gown of blue silk marquisette made in the same style as the bridal gown. She wore a large leghorn hat trimmed with blue velvet streamers and carried red roses, blue delphinium and gypsophila.

Jesse ConHlin of Hempstead was best man and ushers were Charles Keller, brother of the bridegroom, and William Martin PfeifTer of Freeport. A reception for about 50 persons was held at the bride's home. After a trip to Chicago where Mr. and Mrs. Keller will visit Mrs. Keller's sister, Mrs. Christian Peters, the couple will live in Hempstead.

Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson Celebrates Birthday

Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Whaley of Fulton street, Farmingdale, were hosts at a birthday party in honor of Mrs. Whaley's mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson, who was 85 years old Sunday. The party was held in the garden of the Whaley home, with Mrs. Wilson presiding at the table upon which a huge birthday cake with 85 lighted can­dles was placed.

Dinner and supper were served to a large group of guests, includ­ing Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wilson, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Wilson and their daughter, . Lor^tta, of Liberty Corners, N. J.; Mrs. Clar­ence Hook and her daughtelr, Mar-jorie, from Platnfleld, N. (j.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wilson, Jr., of Mount Kisco; Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Wilson and their children, Doris, Betty, Grace and Wesley, Jr., of Englewood, N. J.; Mr. and Mrs. Wisner Wilson of Shelton, Conn.; Mr. and Mrs. Carleton Frembes and their children, Lilla Grace, Donald and Richard of Downsville, N. Y.; Mr. and Mrs. William Col-man of Merrick; Mr. and Mrs. Ar­thur Fricke and their son, Ken­neth, of Sea Cliff; Mr. and Mrs. George A. Seaman and Miss Eliza­beth Whaley of Farmingdale.

Seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren were present at the party.

The tri-color for the mo*t out­standing exhibit in the horticul­ture classes was presented to Mrs. Smith for her hybrid tea rose. Mrs. Post received a tri-color for her black and white arrangement of sweat peas. The contest was a r ­ranged by Mrs. Howard Noatrand in the absence of Mrs. George B. Graham.

A garden quiz was held after the business meeting, conducted by Mrs. Stephenson. Mrs. Paul, who answered the most question* cor­rectly, received a prize.

Mrs. Stephenson reported on the progress of entries for the club's garden contest, based on sizes of plots ranging from 40 foot fron­tages in three groups. All entries must be received by Mrs. Charles W. Mundock, chairman, before July 15. Judging will take place late in August. The scale of point* consists of: conditions of lawn— 25 points; landscaping—35 point*; foundation planting—10 point*: plant material—20 points: and general appearance—10 points. Certificates of merit will be given to the winners in each class.

A donation of $10 was presented to the library fund at Hofstra col­lege and a similar contribution was made to the Hempstead Elks club Christmas fund. New mem­bers enrolled at the meeting were Mrs. J. Bradley Lambert and Mrs. Joseph McKay.
