Welcome to our 2010 CATIA Training Catalog
A New Decade, A New Way of Learning!
A new decade is upon us which brings about many exciting product
offerings as we continue to strive to bring innovation to the marketplace.
We are also dedicated to working with our clients to help you thrive in
this economically challenging time, and in light of this, we are pleased
to announce enhancements to our new web-based training classes, now
called LIVE Online. These online training classes offer our clients high quality, expert-led
training that is interactive, convenient and affordable! Classes are run by the same professional
instructors we’ve always used, but with LIVE Online you work from the convenience of your
location, without software or license required, and still connect with fellow classmates through
our online interface. See page 23 of this catalog for more information to learn how our web
training can benefit you.
Other things to look for in 2010: the release of our CATIA V5 R20 training classes. These classes
will be rolled out throughout the year and scheduled regularly on-line and at our Training
Centers. And of course, we will continue to offer hands-on training presentations at the COE
2010 Annual PLM Conference, located this year in Las Vegas.
A new year often brings about new resolutions. Why not make your resolution to invest in
yourself this year? Upgrading, enhancing or learning new skills are what help keep us at the
top of our game, competitive in the marketplace, and give us that boost of confidence we
need to start something new. With our many online, in-class, and self-serve learning tools
available, I’m confident we can assist in turning your resolution into a reality!
Wishing you a year of good health and happy learning!
Sincerely,

Technical CATIA training helps you gain greater return on investment from your CATIA deployment. It
has been proven that productivity decreases up to 25% when you first introduce a new software tool to
your team, meaning it takes one and a quarter times longer to complete a task than it did before the new
software. With the proper professional training, you will reduce the time spent learning the new CATIA
software and quickly generate a higher productivity level than that of self taught users.
Training offerings designed to suit your particular needsRAND Worldwide offers a variety of training solutions designed to suit your organization and team’s individual needs. Each
class provides you with a certified Technical Training Engineer (TTE). Each TTE has gone through RAND Worldwide’s rigorous
training certification program so you get a knowledgeable expert that can answer your application-specific questions with
technical knowledge and real-life industry experience.
Custom Developed TrainingWe also offer custom-designed curriculum development services, an ideal solution if you need a training program geared to
your specific engineering and manufacturing environment. We will work with you to conduct a thorough needs assessment and
will develop your training programs based on your specific requirements to optimize your professional development investment.
With a focus on your specific content, you can increase staff efficiency, save time, and have better tool use.
Certified Curriculum Quality curriculum is a top priority for RAND Worldwide. Our ASCENT - Center for Technical
Knowledge® certified courseware brings practical industry examples into the classroom to
enhance your overall learning experience. Students receive a manual that includes background
material and exercises on key aspects of the course topics. These manuals are valuable reference
materials for post-class use.

STEPs Learning Methodology
Training today typically consists of attending a class and receiving a certificate for attendance. But there is no
confirmation that the actual level of understanding and retention reached the intended level. In order to best
meet the diverse needs of our clients, our ASCENT - Center for Technical Knowledge® division has developed
Strategic Technical Education Programs (STEPs). STEPs is a learning methodology approach that is designed
to increase on the job productivity by identifying and addressing specific skill gaps inherent in traditional training
programs. We blend in-class Instructor-Led Training, Knowledge Assessment Tools, and Targeted Learning to
create the most thorough learning environment available.
Instructor-Led Training
Standard: Combination of lectures and multi-level exercises in classroom environment challenging you to apply what you have learned.
•
Custom: Unique, custom-designed curriculum to focus on your specific environment and learning needs.•
Knowledge Assessment
User Quiz (UQ): Answer technical questions related to your application. Current knowledge levels are measured and targeted learning is recommended.
•
User Knowledge Profile (UKP):
Demonstrate your application use by completing hands-on tasks. Targeted learning recommendations are made based on client trail files recorded throughout the UKP.
•
Targeted Learning
ProductivityNOW: A user friendly search engine with thousands of learning objects to find information on options, techniques, and procedures that you encounter in your CATIA and ENOVIA SmarTeam software.

RAND Worldwide’s Knowledge Assessment Tools help you discover the training path suited to your specific needs
RAND Worldwide offers a variety of Knowledge Assessment Tools through our ASCENT - Center for Technical Knowledge®
division. ASCENT has been pioneering knowledge products since 1996 and has discovered that people who receive the same
training often show different levels of productivity. This occurs due to different learning styles, different course content retention
levels, different understanding of technology enhancements, and sometimes lack of use.
To assist you in getting the most out of your engineering software training, we offer a variety of Knowledge Assessment
Tools designed to identify existing proficiency levels and future training recommendations. Each tool provides users with the
opportunity to completely retain what they have learned and apply it on the job daily to enhance efficiency and productivity.
CATIA V5 User Knowledge Profile (Introductory Level)Delivered online, the CATIA V5 Introductory Level User Knowledge Profile (UKP) evaluates basic CATIA skills such as creating
simple features, sketches, and assemblies through a series of hands-on tasks and quizzes. Once completed, you will receive
a detailed report highlighting your software proficiency and identified areas of improvement to proceed with a training program
suited to your particular needs.
CATIA V5 Level 1 User QuizThe CATIA V5 Level 1 User Quiz is a key component to any effective learning strategy
when combined with our targeted Web-based training solutions. It is an excellent tool
to assist you in accurately measuring current knowledge and effectively mapping
your future training options and ultimately increasing your on-the-job productivity.
